Hey all! So I recently applied for a different job, clinical research. I put on my application a list of my previous employment. It also asked if they can contact my previous employer to which I said “yes.” The other options were “no” and “not at this time.” I feel like I shot myself in the foot by saying “yes” because I didn’t want to seem sus. So basically, I had the most amazing interview experience and my prospective employer and teammates liked me for a full time research position. I had an impressive resume (pre-med school stuff) – sorry for bragging but pertains to how I somehow didn’t get the job. The only thing is that when I gave my 3 months notice for my previous employer (left in August), they were beyond pissed bc they couldn’t find anyone to pay a non living wage for grunt clinical work…
Category: Antiwork
I reached out to a company I knew was hiring, they emailed me back and after some back and forth we decided on an interview date. They knew I would be driving up from two hours away just for this interview and also would be taking a day off work. Well I arrive and after waiting a few moments was told the person from management I was emailing with wasn’t able to attend so I sat in the lobby while an employee working the position I applied for glanced at my resume and asked me a handful of questions. “Do you have experience in this field/when are you moving to the area and will be able to start/what hours are you looking for/are you okay with early morning shifts.” All of which could’ve been asked and answered via email, I didn’t get his name and he said he’d talk with…
Just had a little brainwave here and wanted to know if anyone has ever considered this. But could a company that say advertises a job posting at a given pay rate or jobs requirements but then changes it at the last minute be liable under false advertising law? Has anyone here legalbros or otherwise ever considered this to be an option?
I currently work for a large company in Texas that is shit hourly + commission. They require that we work a minimum of 4 hours on Saturday, even though we only get paid Mon-Fri. Is it legal to terminate me if I refuse to work for free Saturday?
Working Class Walkout and Rent Strike.
Are you tired of your boss/supervisor/union rep/ceo/president making more than you, to do less work, while you struggle? Help me, an auto-factory worker, plan and execute a mass, nationwide working class walkout and rent strike. Let these managers work your line. Let these ceo's lose millions. Let the renters pay their own mortgage. As the working class, we produce all wealth, it's time we show them exactly what we are capable of. If all anti-work followers upvote, or screenshot and share, add comments and share info to truly organize, there is a chance we could change history for the better. Please, for the sake of our children and our children's children, help me make our world a better place and rid our society of the blatant theft happening in our workplaces and homes every single day. Help me make our lives more fulfilling. They need us more than we need…
I interviewed for a new job. I was told the hours would be 7am-6pm mon-fri I countered with 7am-4:30pm mon-fri with a 1hr lunch (salaried position) I also told him I have a vacation coming up in July that was 10 days long. Told him that I need off those days. I asked, “is that going to be a problem?” While interviewing. He said that’s no problem. I started last week, hopefully everything works well.
One person on my team has no spine whatsoever. I'll refer to him as SJ, for spineless Jake. They're consistently bending over backwards for this company without demanding more for themselves and whining about it constantly about how they feel undervalued. He does more work than anyone else on the team already by a decent margin yet makes middle of the department income. It would make sense if they were new to the work force but they're 30+ years old. They've been at this company for like 8 years without a promotion. Then our team lead put in their two week notice. Me and SJ are the only people qualified, but I'm also leaving to another department. SJ messages me and tells me they're giving him the lead roles responsibilities. He's going on and on about how much extra work this is going to be. Detailing meetings schedules, workloads, etc…
