The Ten-Point Program is a set of guidelines to the Black Panther Party and states their ideals and ways of operation, a “combination of the Bill of Rights and the Declaration of Independence.” The document speaks for freedome and equality for not only black communities, but ALL OPPRESSED PEOPLE. We want freedom. We want power to determine the destiny of our black and oppressed communities. We believe that black and oppressed people will not be free until we are able to determine our destinies in our own communities ourselves, by fully controlling all the institutions which exist in our communities. We want full employment for our people. We believe that the federal government is responsible and obligated to give every person employment or a guaranteed income. We believe that if the American businessmen will not give full employment, then the technology and means of production should be taken from the…

My employer wants me to sign a new contract different than the one I signed when I first started with them in 2020. The new contract basically has an ‘automatic annual renewal’ where it only lasts a year and renews automatically. Can they force me to sign this new contract? Can they fire me if I refuse to sign this new contract that is completely different than the original one I signed?
Why are companies going away with WAH when it was proved to be as of, if not more, productive. Is this all about real estate and getting us to spend $ on gas and lunches? It’s insane how many companies are removing it.
I really hate how I'm expected to put in a two week notice but I can get fired at the worst of times, I had my home hit by a Tornado, they tell me to take a week and that they are supporting me. After I return I'm back for two days before my position is eliminated, I wasn't alone… my boss and his boss got let go too. In the HR meeting I told them the only thing I really have to say is that being fired immediately after spending my savings to repair my home is a slap in the face. I went through an apprenticeship program that I had a small mental health crisis during because they expected me to pass two certs that normally take a year to study for in 2.5 months (Salesforce Admin and Service Cloud consultant) well I freaking made it happen, It…
My work has a shitty rule about vacation leaves. First, there is only 2 days allotment of leave per week for the whole team, meaning if someone got these 2 days, you can no longer apply for leave, also not possible to have leave for more than that. Second, you would only know if its approved one week before, even if you gave them few months notice. Managers can use their time off for a week, no problem. I had a trip planned with my partner for a week (we arranged it long back) and was planning to take sick leave because of this rule. My doctor can issue a medical certificate for me. Sometimes I feel guilty that Im doing it but then it leaves me no choice but to use my sick days.
Rant on Contract Jobs
I have received close to 300 contract job offers/ads and maybe 4 direct hire jobs in the past 2 years. The contract jobs are 90% always outsourced persons spamming my email and phone. Why is the emergence of outsourcing and contract agencies hiring people the new norm? Why would anyone want to take a lower pay rate shoddy benefits and less job permanence. Is it really that much of a burden on actual employers to just do direct hires anymore? No one wants to work, I would argue people enjoy doing something they are compensated well for doing, but working for a shady unknown contractor just sounds downright awful.
