During a department-wide meeting today, someone asked why the company policy is that we do not offer promotions in the same role that you were hired in. Basically, if you want to be promoted you have to apply to a completely different job entirely. Someone asked why that was, and the response was so tone deaf, and honestly just aggressive as hell: “We are all lucky to work for such a great company, a lot of bigger companies are doing layoffs right now, And we are all lucky to be here working at this company, so I think it's important to keep that in mind that we are not doing layoffs. Sales are slowing, You should be grateful…” I'm honestly shocked that people can be such terrible leaders and so tone-deaf to concerns of people below them.
Category: Antiwork
It wasn’t as widely talked about years ago because they still had grunt workers doing the dead end jobs barely surviving, now the cost of living has gotten out of hand where it literally is not enough to survive on these jobs. I know not everyone on here has a dead end job, but they want to blame it on work ethic, morels, and what not but at the end of the day these jobs don’t pay and that’s the biggest out of handful of reasons why there is a “labor shortage” in these frontline customer facing roles. I fully understand why folks are rioting in France and other places.
Ah yes, let’s postpone this question till a second interview and waste even more of our time.
They Offered Me a Joke
I have been with this company for 5 years. I have been overly flexible and now find myself doing about 2-1/2 jobs. I finally convinced them to hire an assistant and promote me to a new title. They laid out the new job description for me and it has ridiculous requirements and is a sales assistant position. I will be expected to close sales but I won’t get commission… that will still go to the sitting sales rep. They want me to do all this for the additional price of a hamburger per day. I said no and now I will be overlooked for anything else. Now they wont even hire a help or the sales associate position that they wanted me to do, they’ll just require that I flex into it under my current title. I guess it’s time to seek new employment.???
A few days ago I noticed an online job advertisement in my city: “Company Name LLC is looking for undergraduate students to work as Brand Ambassadors for large international organizations. Full-time or part-time contract available” I send my CV and immediately, within two days, I enter the selection process, structured as follows: group interview in which one of the Company's managers tells the story of the company, how the work works and the payment methods (the participants ask the questions at the end) in the afternoon of the same day you will be contacted again for a second interview alone with the recruiter During the group interview we are explained that the work is 100% flexible and we choose the days in which to work. The job consists of standing inside a shopping center for all opening hours (from 10 to 13 hours), behind a pop-up stand representing a large…
