Just discovered this sub and I applaud you for saying what so many won't. I recently realized another great way to out abusive employers and fraud within government: Google reviews. Specifically, licensing boards that allow nurses to abuse patients, police departments that refuse to take reports of stalking, and academic departments lead by creeps. I follow the code of ethics for my profession, which calls for me to be a whistleblower and to challenge discrimination, prejudice, etc. When I do, especially in a state-run university, a Medicaid funded hospital, etc. it is always met with an abuse of my labor rights and often my civil. It's next to impossible to get professors, providers, or scientists to help me. When you're a whistleblower in those sectors, your career is done. Most of them have kids, so I can't fault them. I don't and I am in a position where I can…

10% growth = redundancies
So the business grew about 8-10% this year. Therefore it’s time for 2.5% global redundancies. Great.
8:23 is the ratio, in a month of 31 days, of days off to days working for our standard two days off and five freaking days slaving away. 8 to 23. This doesn't account for covering shifts when you're supposed to be off, coming in early/staying late, or overtime. At that point the ratio would be like 5:26. Just think about that. Only 8 days off out of 31. No mandated PTO or sick pay either.
I’ve been in this position a month and doing amazing. Annnnnd this morning they got rid of my position. Oof. Time to get refills of medications fast.

PTO Denied, wwyd?
I started a new job in January. When I started I was told their was a 3 month training class and that that we couldn’t put in requests for PTO until we moved to our actual supervisors. Fast forward, we just moved to our new supervisors and after basically bothering my my supervisor non stop — I finally got access to the PTO calendar. I work in claims which is pretty production based so only 10% of us can be out at once. Anyway, the entire calendar is basically filled until the end of the year. Apparently it opens 1/1 and everyone just puts all of their requests for the year. I have a vacation planned in June and thankfully I was able to get off the 20th,21st and 22nd but not the 19th. I’m thinking about just calling in sick but I feel like they’ll know I’m lying. But…
The company I work for is okay. Workers are treated decently by lower and mid-management. The pay is on the lower end for our work, raises and bonuses are less than average for our industry, but the job/company is secure and doesn’t do routine layoffs. The biggest benefit is that all employees have their own office. It’s increasingly rare to find now a days. The NA CEO announced a few months ago they they will be renovating. Our CEO is an out of touch POS. He won’t put in charging stations because he doesn’t have an electric car. An employee asked at a town hall if we would be getting more than the 2% raise this year due to inflation. He said no and if we don’t like the pay we can leave. They announced a couple of years ago about renovating our offices. They are moving from individual offices…
