i have a job in customer service with a start up. for a while i felt really good about it, then i started to slip on focus, i made a couple of mistakes, felt demoralized, last week the vice president of customer service was let go for a mere disagreement with one of the owners of the company. they blamed it on “performance issues” but we all know that’s not the case. i’m feeling really shitty about working now. every time i think about work or start work id rather crawl under a rock and die. they’re switching things up – we’re doing more on demand shipping and it’s extremely taxing and requires more phone calls over emails. but i need money. and i only have 6 months experience at this company so it wouldn’t make sense to try and move to another one. i only make $41k at this…
Is it time to quit?
I’ve been with my employer for over 7 years. I work in mortgage sales and rates keep going up with no end in sight. People on the operations side are being offered buyouts rather than laid off. On the sales side though, they don’t buy you out. They burn you out. They encourage you to work more hours, for less leads and they make the standards higher also. The expectation is at minimum 55 hours a week. I think most people are putting in 60-70. There are less leads and the same amount of bankers fighting for those leads. I used to be in a salary position with lower commission but now I’m in hourly plus commission, but after 40 hours I don’t get time and a half. I just get half. After 40 hours my pay goes from $12.50 to $6.25 an hour. I want to hold on but…
I make $45k base pay now as an SDR with on target earnings of $50-55k I want my base pay to be $50-55k what’s the best way to answer the question: “What are your salary expectations with this job?” I was going to say “I would hope the salary would be in line with current market value with a base salary of $50-$55k

TIRED OF WORKING IN CAPITALISM I get it. I live in my partners grandmothers house, typing this to you from a closet. We have started an organization www.rtfsolve.org We are working to create socialized concepts for business operations to help existing historically excluded businesses. Utilizing these funnels to aggregate a leftist database. When we are funded we will apply our socialized methodologies into gentrifying communitties by cereating local community owned organizations that will fill the gaps locally. (Housing, Healthcare, food, etc) They participate in a rev share that is managed by the community to create systemic change Buying land, housing, prisons, police stations… Sign up on our website, and chat with our founder for 30 minutes. We believe we can create a non-extractive world, that socializes what it takes to participate equitably in it. Don't make the rich richer…help us achieve equity for us all.
It appears that I have won the argument. I had to work with her this morning and I made sure to wear my mask as I always do. Sure enough when she saw me wear the mask, she said, “Mask off now, before I take it off”. I have an audio recording of her saying it. My response was, “my health matters and I have a lung condition, it's in my medical records.” Which is the truth, by the way. She realized she couldn't argue with that and dropped the subject. Until we got outside. Three out of the five people that work at the store smoke, they usually go outside for smoke breaks and I'm allowed to tag along outside as a break despite the fact that I don't smoke. When I'm outside I usually take my mask off because I'm outside, I'm not around people in an enclosed…
