This… is just real sad
I’m just gonna leave it here
Jobless for the past couple months
I haven’t had a job since August of last year. I decided to go to school to change career paths but no one wants to hire me for the weekends. I used to work full-time. Everyone says they need availability open, but I simply can’t. I tried everywhere, you name it. Target, Starbucks, Michaels, Ulta… Retail, Food Service, Cashier, etc. , Big Companies and Small ones. I applied at least to 30 locations in my area. Nothing. I’m feeling pretty bad and I was wondering if anyone had ideas. Possibly a side gig… I’m desperate. Really tired of people saying that no one wants to work. If they really needed people, they would hire me. We all know open availability means getting skeleton shifts and 12 hours a week anyway. What’s the big deal??
I work as a in home aid, so I can't leave until I'm properly relieved. My coworker is always late on his shift. Superbowl Sunday he was 2+ hours late, this Friday he's 40minutes late and I normally just make the chair wet. But what legal actions can I take right now to just make this my boss' problem? Can I call the cops to take my spot? I just want to go home and eat dinner. Edit: seriously what the hell are my rights at the moment?
Zero hour zero loyalty
I work a zero hour position in security it’s well paid, great team, but due to it being zero hours my employer drops my hours as soon as the business starts slowing for the summer period. This summer I plan to work festivals and private events so for 4 weekends spread throughout the summer months I’ll be away I notified my employer and was hit with “ I look after you and this is how you repay me I want you available for 5 nights per week if I need you “ then basically said I should replace you if you go and making out I should be thankful I have a job. I’m happy working here but jeez this really makes me want to tell him to shove his job.
My thoughts on the future
Ok so this doesn’t directly relate to work, but it does sometimes. I don’t want to live in a future where people go on strike for the right to be able to afford the ability to live, medical bills, and a world of pollution. I get everyone it switching to EVs and green energy, but I think it’s too late. We have less that 30 years and climate change is irreversible (from what I have read), and unless we wall-e our way into space, why even try?
