employer thinks i’m faking covid

I work at a retail store, and I have a close relationship with two employees. One of them had covid the week before last, my GM made a comment to me about how she was faking it even though she had provided a doctors note. She came back to work after 5 days, not sure if she had tested negative. Now, I tested positive yesterday, provided a note from the doctor, and yet again, the AM made a comment to an employee about me faking it. Said employee let me know. I know they both dislike us as employees because we hang out outside of work and we have both already been stiffed of raises because “we are not performing”. Which is untrue, this manager just hates that employees have camaraderie and would prefer for everyone to not interact with each other after work. this is getting ridiculous and i…

My New Way of Expressing Net Worth and Why Billionaires are Terrible.

So a while ago, I learned a neat fact – not sure where, also not sure if it is true/still true – that statistically you can convince anyone to do anything by bribing them with roughly 10 million dollars ($10,000,000). Let us assume that this number is both accurate and a guarantee, not statistically significant a guarantee. Let us also assume that this bribe lasts for forever, there is no renewing the bribe necessary. We can set this number as the value of a “bribery” and use this number to show how many people someone with a large net worth can bribe into doing anything. Now before I get into this, I want you to understand the size of an army. A roman legion was roughly 6,000 men, and a modern “army” (labeled by NATO as a “Division”) is 6,000 to 25,000 men. A division is the fifith largest tier…

my company might cut jobs and ask for a “workload” report.

Hi, i am worried that my company might cut jobs. I am in a department with only 3 employees; it might hit 1 of us. I'm the newest one (since september 2022). Today, they asked for a workload report; which employee handles how many cases per day. The problem is that our supervisor did not ask us seperately, she asked the one that has been in the company the longest to answer for all of us. So, the one employee who answered said she did most of the work and the remaining 2 of us about the same. In reality, I do 50%, she does 20% and the 3rd one 30%. The one that did the report should already be retired but she stays for a little longer (withdrew her retirement) because her 401k dropped a lot. Is there a way to let the manager of the location know that…

How long do internal promotion processes usually take?

Currently in the middle of an internal promotion process, up for a role reporting to the same supervisor I have now. It’s only internal candidates from our own team (about 5) who have applied and interviewed, yet it’s been 3 weeks since interviews and no decision yet. Is this normal? How long can I expect this process to take?

Can’t even sit at work anymore…

I work at a liquor store and I only make $12 an hour, when I started we were allowed to sit if there weren't any guests in the store, well apparently corporate says we “sit down at work too much” so they took away our stool and chair and told us to stand all shift, like why?? Bet right now says they sit on their fat asses all day but when we get 30 minutes we can't sit down instead we have to stand all day…how does that help the business at all if we stand compared to sit all day?? I only make 12 an hour! I only kept this job so I can sit down and rest my legs! Any kind of comfort we have in the work place corporate just takes away…fuck america, fuck capitalism!

My mom’s employer has scheduled a meeting on a day off – is that even legal?

My mom works for a company that provides services for a school. When schools are closed, they don't work and don't get paid. The school is closed this whole week. My mom is telling me that they emailed everyone on Friday saying that there is a mandatory meeting tomorrow on Zoom. I don't know exactly how long the meeting will be but even if it's a 30 min virtual meeting, I'm confused why this meeting was scheduled on a day that the employees are supposed to be off? Is that even legal? How can I find out if my mom is entitled to pay? If it matters, we live in New Jersey.

Find a different job or Stick it out?

do I stay or do I go? I (27F) started working for a retail company 1 1/2 years ago. After four months into the job I became assistant manager. While becoming this my colleague (25f) also got promoted to the same as me. A few days ago I found out my other colleague- let's call her Sophie was going to become senior manager. A few things that annoyed me about this is: 1. I always cover everyone's shifts, she doesn't. 2. She's our area managers sister ( which makes me think this is why she got promoted) 3. She's forever in our small office getting others to do the work – don't get me wrong giving tasks to colleagues is part of our role , but she honestly takes the mick with this. 4. She is good at her job- she's been there 10+ years, so has more knowledge than…
