My Desk Was Moved at Work

So i work for the corporate office for a company. i also say corporate loosely cause it definitely isn’t a professional workplace at all. Anyway, the owner of the business has been harassing me for weeks about moving my desk without giving me any reason why. Basically, when i was hired, my desk was at a raised standing desk height, and the chair i was given was a thrifted $10 bar stool with no backrest or seat cushion. I endured this for maybe 2-3 weeks and then found there was a way to lower my desk. I proceeded to lower it and grabbed an actual office chair from a private office that no one is using and has multiple chairs in there. Since then, he has expressed the fact that he wants me to raise it back up for weeks and has been constantly harassing me about it and trying…

Do I switch locations or leave the railroad completely

I am 19 y/o and work for NS. I will make about 52k a year, but after taxes, tier 1/2 retirement, union dues and job security, it’s not that much for being on call 24/7 and working 16 hours on my birthday. So my thought is to move 200 miles away from my home town to work everyday on a money pool. Or quit the railroad completely and find some other good paying job

Working Ourselves to Death

Yesterday, a co-worker had to be rushed to the emergency room after collapsing on the job. He's 61. Another co-worker in his late 40s had to be taken to the hospital after collapsing at his other full-time job. Meanwhile, asshats in the media and government tell us we're not working hard enough. Murica.

i’m losing it pt2

I posted about my new office job a week ago. Ive been so sick from anxiety i had to skip work for 3 days. Yesterday i found a part time offer for a cleaning job (20hrs a week, 5.50$ an hour). I'd apply for it right away but my family member sat me down last week and told me i'm not allowed to quit this office job for something less lucrative. I know he means well but this job is so hard on my mental health and i can't imagine performing well enough once i'm fulltime especially. The anxiety symptoms i'm experiencing are insane, i'm starting to feel more depressed and drink more just to calm down a little and i know that's not good. So do i choose a job that will employ me fulltime eventually and will make my family happy or do i choose a part time…

why should we be passionate about work when there’s no escape from the drama?

Why can't people just grasp the concept that we're all there for a paycheck and not there to make friends? I have no patience for office politics. I'll be able to fake it because I'm just a chill introverted individual in general, but I won't put up with the violation of boundaries from a high school minded 60 year old boss who constantly harasses me for switching shifts because I was “fake” with her because I tried to go with the professional route by just tolerating her shenanigans for as long as I could.

Office job chooses which bank holidays to follow?

Big company, typical 9-5 schedule but makes one bank holiday 8-5. No exceptions for Presidents Day. Is this normal?

Am I wrong for requesting PTO in this scenario?

I’m considered “mission essential”. I’m not even in the medical field or law enforcement. This was my first time out the military and taking a contracting job and I went for it because the pay. I didn’t even have an interview for this position. I had a security clearance and the skills needed but when I got here, it wasn’t what I thought. My boss told me during my onboarding process that 8 people before me quit. One person came in for a day and left after his training. One person left after a day The craziest one I heard is someone leaving after pulling his first 12 hour shift. I didn’t think it was a big deal because after being in tough positions in the military, I figured I could handle whatever is so “tough” about it. Well I found out a few months later why people quit. You’re…
