My boss asked me to build a metaverse
In the end of 2019, I was working as an operations engineer, but when the pandemic hit early 2020, I saw an opportunity to learn something new. I was always interested in AI, networking, and building apps, so I took advantage of my free time and enrolled in a few online courses, including Udemy and Harvard's CS50, to learn the basics of programming. By early 2022, my hard work paid off as I landed multiple job interviews, and I was offered a position as a junior developer at a company. My job was to maintain a web app, add new features, fix bugs, and help with the development of a yet-to-be-released mobile app. A few weeks into the job, I learned that the senior developer was quitting, and I was scared because I had never worked as a software developer before. But I threw myself into the work, reading the…
Laid-off while on STD
Hi, I was laid off this week while on short term disability for a wrist injury I'll likely need surgery to correct (torn TFCC). The lay off was the result of budget cuts and business restructuring. With the accumulating medical bills, I'm struggling to keep up. My severance is only enough to cover surgery copay + MRI. My question is: Has anyone been through this kind of situation where you can't apply for jobs bc you aren't physically able? Is there a workaround for applying to unemployment? I read you must be physically able to work in order to qualify. What have you done/found as meanial sources of income? It doesn't seem that disability is an option since the injury won't last over a year. Is there an option for people in this position other than being unemployed and without income? Thank you

It’s just so annoying, I’m 17 and still in high school, I work part time at an entery level possession in a fast food restaurant, why TF do I need a doctors note when I’m sick? Majority of the time I don’t even go to the doctor when I’m sick! I’ve gone to work (and school) before while I could barely breathe without excruciating pain. I hate it here.
I just want to preface that this happened in 2021, I was working for a local chocolate company in my area that was bought by a rich guy as a gift for his wife (important later). I worked as an assistant in the admin department and would also take invoices for wholesale. I only worked about 15-20 hours a week. While I was there the boss (rich guys wife) asked me if I could babysit regularly as her young son took a liking to me. I agreed because I had shit pay and could barely make rent (big mistake) started working an additional 10-15 hours taking care of him at their home. Now this is where things get dicey. I worked so few hours in the beginning because I was trying to manage life long mental health issues. I was able to find a psychiatrist and I was diagnosed with…
