This is kind of a bittersweet post, more sour than anything. I'll of course be continuing going after the company legally. My boss who lied and wrongfully got my car towed and impounded, requiring me to pay to get it out, will not be coming back to work according to my AL leader, who then immediately followed up with “hopefully when you come to work TOMORROW, you'll be in a better environment” which was not the response I was expecting. He must be crazy. Oddly, the police didn't have to do anything and my boss left when asked, though they are still here so I'm not sure what that's about. But I just spent some time talking with my AL about the situation, and regarding my compensation/reimbursement. I was given the runaround. I will NOT be compensated at all by the company for the towing charge of 105, I will…

Why do people have kids?
I can barely afford to live. Kids would make that even harder since they are not only a burden on my money, but also my time

Unfulfilled at Work
[Rant/Vent] I graduated from college almost a year ago, and I am working my first full-time job, and I am struggling. I kind of mastered what I am doing already, and I don't feel purpose. I am on contract, and they won't bring me on because of the current state of the economy. I can leave as I please, but I'm not sure what I would leave for. My job allows me to work hybrid (go onsite as i need to), my boss lives 2 states over and leave me alone, and I also don't do a lot but reply to emails and make sure numbers match what I need them to. I am kind of living Office Space. But I just can't see myself being in this cycle forever, but I need to make money to stay alive. What are my options? In school, I loved learning, I loved…
Take a hint
So Wednesday I had a chat with my district manager. In short I asked her about reviews. She replied reviews can happen anytime but as of now no more raises…labor is too high. I told her you said 3 weeks ago labor was too high that’s because of tax season. January is notoriously slow business wise. It proves what I told my GM that this is a no win scenario…no one is getting raises oh but they sure make sure corporate gets more money. Computers went down Sunday night…Thursday morning their still working on them. Had a kid whining about he’s working all week. Told him that’s my life get used to it. Get used to 1 job not covering everything. 2 jobs are generally needed. No surprise his sister tried to text me an hour later to cover his shift. Nope. Friday is my day off. If I’m not…
Former boss steals tips and evades tax
So I was wondering why my former boss only hired minors, but it's because he takes their tips (and minors would be less aware that it's wage theft) if they don't reach a quota and that quota is unreachable especially in winter. He also evades taxes because he tried to get me into it but I said no because I wanted to pay taxes and get my proper refund. Also I filed an UI claim on my part but it didn't work out because apparently the monetary amount wasn't reached but I'm pretty sure he excluded some of my earnings. He hides behind a nice guy mask and does all these shady things honestly. Edit: Also I feel like these practices are common especially in Chinese oriented workplaces. Not being racist because I'm also Chinese lol. One time I had a tutoring job that I barely started because they never…
Are promotions a thing of the past?
I have been working at my current employer for 3 years and promotions keep getting put off and put off. I’m curious, does your company promote frequently?
Merit based bonuses only
I've been working for a major healthcare company for 4 months, doing WFH customer service so I can finish my masters. This company is a giant, billion dollar insurance company, all over the world, and yet, give no annual raises, no annual bonuses, only quarterly merit based bonuses. Normally, I'm not opposed to merit based compensation, as long as there are other ways to get bonused or raises. But, not even when adding skill sets do they give a raise (we're trained for one line of business, and can train for others down the line). Only merit based or promotions. Is this common now? Of course, the requirements to 'bonus' every quarter are strict and difficult to reach. I've worked many jobs in my life (mid thirties), and have never seen one that only provides this kind of thing.
