It's like we are in forced servitude just to have health insurance.
My husband called me this morning to tell me that his CEO gave some cheesy announcement about why it’s important to work in an office and basically saying that everyone is now required to return to office without giving any real reasons. A lot of teams have been working remotely still so that ends that. Sure enough within hours my department president sent out an email saying that there is a mandatory minimum of two days in office requirement for everyone starting in March and that it’s going to be monitored and reported to our managers. My team’s requirement was two days in office but I would honestly just WFH if my manager was on vacation or I would come in and leave early if I got there and saw that he wasn’t there. Just a random though.
Got curious and got online to look around for jobs in my area. Almost nothing besides a medical professional or a commission sales rep is paying more than $50k. I’m kinda shocked how little pay ranges are rising for office work or professional work, while retail and fast food seems to be quickly rising. Shouldn’t these salaries be rising too? What’s happening? I want all pay scales to go up, but why do these seem stuck?
The title says it all. Edit: Failed to mention, I'm the gallery manager for this man's art gallery. He is 80 years old, never had success running his place, and always had a reputation for being rude to people and the overall community. His gallery was in complete disarray, with it looking like a junkyard than an actual space. There was no internal infrastructure in place, so I created it all from scratch. There was a good amount of time spent fixing it up to make it somewhat usable. Exhibitions were brought in, and with a decent amount of success.
