Hey all. This is my first Reddit post. NSFW language is censored. I was working a very long shift today in customer service (big retail building) and I only had half an hour left. Then everything went wrong. I was incredibly sick, and I couldn't wait to go home. The other person that was working with me already left, so I was the only person who knew how to do customer service in the building (of about 15 people). Some guy calls trying to reach the Auto Parts department. He can't get through to them several times so he starts swearing and cursing at me and the entire company. As I'm listening to this man rant on the phone, I'm helping other people in the line who are also getting quite angry (No, you can't return used mole traps). At the end of that series of events, I'm barely refraining…

Throw away as I am paranoid a hell and prefer my privacy but I have to tell someone. I work for a certain well-known American cell phone company on the corporate side as a salesman. I love my job, and I'm great at it. I never have issues with coworkers and rarely butt heads with management as they fully trust me and my abilities. The company never made me compromise my morals to make a sale. My coworkers and I pride ourselves on the fact we are encouraged to fix a customer's issue and upsell only as a last resort to fixing a problem. Fast forward to December and the company decides they want to take over kiosks located in a widely popular wholesale warehouse store that rhymes with Bosco. My DM is having trouble finding workers that want to take over the kiosk and sends out an informational email…

What's the point of using a search engine on a job seeking website like indeed or linkedin when you just get a bunch of unrelated jobs that don't have anything to do with your field or search term? Or they just take one word in your search and tailor the results to that word and that word specifically (like associate or specialist). Like, if I'm looking for graphic design or admin jobs, I don't expect to find a crap ton of IT openings. As if struggling to get calls back from job applications isn't bad enough, just searching for jobs feels like my current experience using Google without enabling the “verbatim” setting. And let's not forget the many jobs that don't have a salary or hourly wage listed, that shit grinds my gears especially. That's important information for candidates and should be accessible.

Today one coworker who isn’t that far off maternity leave (under 2 weeks) started having contractions. She asked to leave & was told no. The leader in charge then left a couple hours later because the heat was out at his house. Eventually she was allowed to leave: after she was bent over her pack station, heavy breathing and struggling. He was allowed to leave immediately. That’s what working at Target is like.
