It's a small step but after call centre work its so much better. I had to warn them that I was so micro managed prior that it caused a complete lack of independence in my training. As long as my quality is high they don't care. I'm still adjusting to it and it will get better in time.

Honestly, I have no idea where to go for help on this. This subreddit had been cathartic for me so at the very least maybe writing this out will help. I’ve been working at a crypto exchange for the last year and a half. We are the US branch of a China based company, which happens to have several sister brands involved. It’s a convoluted mess but I wanted the opportunity to escape a bad job and originally thought I had career development opportunities. Ironically, this company is worse than my last and I’ve got a lot of baggage to unpack now that I’ve escaped the abuse. When I joined I was given stock options – normal in the tech industry. I didn’t think much of it until a coworker pointed out that his layer reviewed the options agreement and was advised it was shady but not entirely unreasonable. I…
not a single person could go 7 miles out of their way to drop me off at home when it's 5 degrees out. My GM ignored me when I said I had to leave because I couldn't find a safe way home tonight. so I had to get on the last bus out, meaning i was only in for 35 minutes. So I couldn't get the hours 7 mile walk back at 10pm to wake up to walk back at 8.30am? I had to leave, I'd like to thank; my city bus service for failing to have transportation available on service worker hours. uber and lyft for not even running in my area the cab drivers who do not pick up their phones,( is there even a cab service here if no one answers) my managers for neglecting the health and safety of their workers I'm dropping almost all of…
I own my own business. I am currently the only worker in said business and I want to hire people for different a bunch of online stuff. Now what would be the things you would request for it to be a better work environment and allow you to live a good life with it? My current list is: Good pay My issue is I have never held a job since leaving walmart to join the military. So I truly don't know what people would like. For example would people prefer higher pay but no health and dental? Also what are good parameters to put in place so that one day if I'm not directly overseeing someone how can I make sure there is no abusive middle manager? I know a lot of people on this sub hate the whole idea of capitalism but, I'm trying to make it work for…
One minute late clocking in means..
Backstory: I work in an academic science university setting. I am the ONLY employee of a core lab which provides services to researchers on our campus. We recently heard a rumor that one person was unhappy with a service. My bosses’ solution is to send out an anonymous survey for our lab. My bosses say they are very happy with my services, and this is to show that ‘we care’ about getting feedback from researchers. I feel like this is very unfair as I am the sole employee, they want this to be anonymous, AND they are aware of the issues I have had with this one researcher on campus and the bosses have not made an effort to mediate or intervene in the situation. I appreciate thoughts and advice!
Rant- Lowest paid and least perks
I am a receptionist at a construction buisness. It was -23 today and basically a white out. Literally everyone left early except me and another lady. It always seems like the most static jobs are paid the least. All these office employees can say they are working from home, leave early when the weather is inclement etc. But me and the other admin team have to stay until the end time even when we see nobody in person. I literally answer a phone and forward emails. My job could be done at home as much as anyone else's. But regardless, I stayed. But when I said I didn't want to get the mail this one day (I had indoor shoes and forgot to bring my heavy winter boots for my mail run as I had to uber) my manager got sullen with me. Whenever it's beautiful out she happily offers…
To clarify I'm curious what you guys think would happen if everyone or a majority of people started putting their desired salaries as a livable wage and we all just didn't budge and existing employees request a pay raise or they quit? Like a union but for every worker not just specific trades. How long do you think companies could realistically hold out before they would have to make a change? How many people do you think would actually stay on board and for how long? What are some other potential consequences or benefits of doing something like this?
