A few months ago, I found out that at least two of our new hires that I was training were brought in at a higher rate of pay than I was. They also were making more than someone who had been there for five years. I had asked for a raise a month prior to finding out this information. I discussed this issue with a few coworkers who were also upset. These new hires were new to the industry, and aside from me training them, I also have a year of experience on them and I have a pretty decent certification in my field. I was pissed. Just remembered this story and I felt it was so outrageous I had to share. When I (F) was sixteen, I worked at a clothing store for kids. I was scheduled to work one night, and we had an awful blizzard coming through. School the next day was even delayed. I was going to go, but my mother forbid me from going. She owned the car, and she said it was not safe for me to be driving 25 minutes to work for $8 an hour, so, the answer was no.
