Im curious as to your area, hourly income vs how much these items cost in your local grocery store. Milk $1.32 per gallon – 1.4 gallons per hour worked before sales and income tax Eggs $0.6 per dozen -3 dozen per hour worked before sales and income tax Bacon $0.85-0.95 per lb – 2 lbs per hour worked before income and sales tax Banana $0.12 per lb – 15.4 lbs per hour worked before income and sales tax Please leave out taxes. Also please don't pick the cheapest or most expensive items of this variety. It is suprisingly hard to get comparisons on region that aren't already analyzed and generalized. Minimum wage https://dol.ny.gov/history-minimum-wage-new-york-state Price of groceries https://www.classmates.com/blog/article/food-prices-in-the-1970s/ My goal is to get an actual analasys from people, not from a privately funded research facility.

I took bereavement leave from the third of this year to the fifth of this year–so January 3rd, 4th and 5th of 2023. I work second shift, so we receive a shift premium of $1.50 every hour. I did not receive my shift premium on my bereavement leave for those days, and the person who does payroll said we do not get shift premium on bereavement leave, although it's supposed to be paid time off. But a salaried worker on an off-shift, who still receives a shift premium because they are on an off-shift, does get paid their shift premium for bereavement leave. Their paycheck is not less than usual when they have bereavement leave on it, but an hourly worker's paycheck is less than usual. My question is, why would hourly workers not receive their full wages for bereavement leave but salaried workers receive their full salary? There is…
One of my friend recently started a job as a senior software engineer for a small place. They had lied to him about his pay and what he would be going but he needed the job so he stayed. I thought that was a big red flag already. The first few weeks he was not able to work because IT couldn't give him access. They didnt really seem to care. When he started working everything seemed fine but since few weeks now, every week his bosses are lecturing him for his time sheet. It has been 4 times now so he worries they gonna fire him for misconduct. At first they said we dont round it up by 15min here, which he was only doing because there was nothing to do. Then they lecture him again saying it was still not good enough. He has no idea how they came…
Hello all, I'm not even sure if this is the right place to post and ask this, so please refer me to the correct sub if not! I am looking for any resources or information about how to report an employer for shady but not directly unlawful conduct in hopes that it will be able to help others either not provide them business in the future or for other potential employees to avoid working here. My situation is that of concern of being discriminated against based on gender but there isn't a significant amount of financial loss to render worthy of an actual lawsuit. My career is in the mental health field, I work for a private practice that provides therapy and counseling, if that helps narrow things down. Other than the Illinois Attorney General's office, is there any board or licensing agency that would be an appropriate place to…
I think my job has mold.
Hi. I am 24 and still in school, and I love my main job. However, I work part-time during the week at a small business I have worked at since I was 16. The store was bought by a new owner a couple of years ago, and I kept my job. A few weeks ago, I was putting away merchandise and I noticed a weird smell in the second room of the store, but thought it was just a weird smell and that it would pass. I normally only work there 1-2 days a week max, and I usually am by myself so I don't leave the register much ( which is another problem in and of itself, I know). Anyway, the smell was never detectable to me by the register in the next room and no customers ever said anything to me about it. (Think of how at the…
How do I get the most out of a raise?
I recently discovered a less experienced/less qualified coworker of mine is making slightly more than me when he should be making less. (If you’re curious about this story it’s in my recent post history). Ive been here for 6 months and I’ve started creating a list of reasons why I deserve a raise (excluding any information about my coworker). Does anyone have advice on how to get the most out of asking for a raise? Could anyone provide me with information about inflation since July if it could help my argument? How much is too much to ask for? Any and all advice is appreciated! TIA
Stop getting mad about phishing tests
I have seen multiple people mad that a company would send out fake gift card emails or extra vacation emails in phishing tests. Those tests are supposed to catch your attention and click on them. You getting mad they are fake because you believed it even for just a moment is just evidence that it was a good test. There are so many things that are genuine issues to focus on lets not get mad at proper security practices just because you're mad you fell for a trick intended to help you and the company be safer.
They’re not struggling to fill slots due to lack of experience. The economy isn’t crumbling. They want to raise the retirement age so more people will die before they can start benefitting from the pension carrot they dangle in front of you your whole working life. Nothing more. Nothing less. They tell you to pay into it with the claim you’ll get to live the life of leisure in your golden years. They spend your money for their own benefit and hope you die before you can claim it so they don’t have to pay out your contributions.
