“Severance is like lost meets r/antiwork”

I saw a video where a YouTuber described the show Severance that way and I wanted to share that with you guys. When I watched the show, this sub absolutely crossed my mind. Severance absolutely encapsulates the spirit of this sub, and I encourage anyone who hasn’t seen it yet to go watch. If you don’t know what it’s about basically it’s a sci-fi mystery/drama with Adam Scott directed by Ben stiller. The premise is that there is a big, secretive company where, in order to work there you have to be “severed” which means when you are at work you no longer remember your personal life and when you leave you no longer remember your work life. Essentially you become two separate people, one of whom is trapped at work permanently. It’s the best show I have watched last year, definitely in my top 5 of all time list.…

Didn’t get the promotion

I started a job in Sept. There are only 6 people at the institute. One just retired. I was discouraged from applying. There will be few choices to move up so ce we are so small. We do research on social determinants of health. What frustrates me is that although I do not have all the exact experience they want, I have transferrable skills that I feel they are not recognizing. And I've had either “senior” or “director” jobs for the last 12 years or so. I love this organization and was happy with my move and feeling hopeful and settled but this really upsets me. I talked to my boss twice and to her and the E.D. once. Boss really gave me time. E.D. mostly wanted to hear himself pontificate. I'm done discussing it. I just need some thought to hold onto to keep me motivated while I recover…

My pay rate was cut without my knowledge

In December my direct manager quit, so I kind of became acting manager. So the owners increased my pay rate as a thank you for handling things without a manager. They did not increase it to a managers rate, they only increased it by $0.90 per hour. Now they’ve hired a new manager, and I noticed my pay rate decreased to what it was before. I’m quitting tomorrow anyway, but am I justified to be angry about this? I feel like the owners are being cowardly by doing this without telling me.

should I ask for retro pay?

Hi friends, looking for advice. I was approved for a raise through my district manager a week and a half ago. He said it would be updated this pay period and to reach out if I didn’t see it on our payroll app. I texted Monday and got no responded same with weds this week. I also emailed HR yesterday (which he asked me not to do and to go through him specifically) and also got no response, which is super unprofessional in my opinion and I’m frustrated. I’m wondering if I should ask for retro pay because I was told it would be updated this pay period or if anyone has had this happen to them and what they did to figure this out. I would quit if I could, I’m a full time student and this job gives me experience/is very flexible with school. (I work under great…

Am I getting fucked or am I just stupid

Started on the 16th of January, fast forward two weeks and it's the 27th. Next week I'll be getting paid so that's three weeks of working for only two weeks worth of pay. Asked my supervisor about it and apparently I'll be getting that third week of pay for the period between January 30th and Feburary 10th on Febuary 17th, but that's still like three weeks if I'm being correct…I feel like I'm missing a whole weeks worth of pay [EDIT] Thanks guys, didn't know if I would get any responses back but I appreciate it!

Got fired yesterday

This was the first time i got fired, i won't share the screenshots because most people here can't read portuguese aniway, but the thing that got me was it was by a simple message, translating to english would literally be like : '' Hey no need to come tomorrow, you're fired, come to get your money on the 5th of feb.'' it just shocked me at the time, even today 1 day after i asked the boss about a feedback or what i did wrong or didn't do, got ignored by the whole team and that's it, just wanted to share with you guys, my previous jobs i asked to get fired and resigned this is my first true fired moment haha.
