Let's see if I can put my words together cohesively. I work at a Walmart distribution center. My job, basically, is to push a cart around my area, called the pick mod, and pick up smallish items, such as shirts and blankets, to the packing station so they can be boxed, labelled, and shipped to people's houses. I'm autistic, and very sensitive to noise as a result. Warehouses are full of painful noises, and I was told during orientation that we aren't allowed to have hearing protection. I have depression, and it's bad enough now that it's slowing me down physically and mentally. We have a certain quota to meet, and I can only meet it on rare occasions, which leads me to getting talked to. I can't afford to lose my job, but I can't make myself speed up. Why is it that we need to waste our time and go through the whole interview process before we find out about the salary/wage? Does anyone here straight up ask what the salary/wage is before even going to an interview?
Let’s all cry
Let's all cry to the internet about how much we hate ours jobs. It is entirely to difficult to find a “job” that doesn't expect me to do something in exchange for money. It's not like every company is hiring leaving thousands of options available, and it's is impossible to start your own business instead of working for someone else. Like I mean impossible, you have to file a few papers and come up with an idea and some sort of product. Why bother attempting to fix our owns lives when we can cry about it on the internet.
I work in the insurance industry. My background is a licensed auto adjuster and I left a toxic environment for a new company. Saw a listing for an “auto claims adjuster” and I applied. Went through two interviews and was hired the same day as my second interview. During my hiring interview, I asked if I would be handling complex claims, as that’s what I’m used to. I asked them to walk me through the first 30,60,90 days outside of training at their company and they gave me the same blanketed, vague, answer that every insurance company I have worked for gave me. It sounded like what I’m used to: taking a shit ton of claims in one day and expected to make first calls on all of them within 6-24 hours of receiving them.
