So I was working 32 hours a week because this is what I requested. I have been here 5 years now (longest employee). This new girl came in and they gave her 40 hours, I was originally working 24 hours a week 2 years ago but had decided to up my hours since I need them now (I have a family now). Well to give me the hours I want, they give her a day on the evening to keep her 40 hours, she does not seem to get along with anyone though, and she has only been working here for 7 months. I work my 32 hours a week after. Well the guy who was working 4 days quit his job, so they got someone working 5 days a week and put her back on the day shift full again and reduced my hours (I been working these hours…

Don’t bother working if you have ADHD.
It doesn't matter how hard you try, how many glowing reviews you get, how many extra shifts you volunteer, how often you push through any sickness or insomnia, how much you show up on time or even early. You look at your phone when things get slow instead of inventing work to do and they'll fire you the very same day they assign you shifts. I'm going to be homeless soon and I don't even care anymore.
Equal pay for equal work…
I was the only person in charge of the Logistics department at this company. I was told they cant afford to pay me over 50k (Canadian). I started browsing for jobs at work and came across an ad.. for my exact job.. I printed it off and went to HR to ask what this was, she replied “We are splitting your job in half because we know you need the help” I said “Okay.. so why is it paying 10k more than me..” she replied “Oh you dont have any experience doing Logistics so we need someone who can do the job” ….I have been here for 1.5 years on my own running the department on top of 6 years experience. I was then told “Well you can apply for the job and interview like everyone else” Fast forward to the person they hired, 3 years younger than me (26)…
So I'm in a situation and want to know what you guys think: I have a low-paying job but I'm doing pretty alright– aside from the massive credit card and personal debt I'm carrying. I'll be honest, I didn't need the credit cards and I certainly didn't use them responsibly. The loan I took out did help me move across the country which was nice and needed. Now, here's where I am: I'm 27, working the shitty little job that I don't mind, with a mountain of debt, and no assets. Not even a car. I racked up debt because I was a bit of a drug addict and very immature. Now that I'm clean and more mature I'm becoming stressed about my debts. Then I thought” Why don't I just file for bankruptcy? Isn't that what rich people do when they make horrible business mistakes?” I read all about…
Hi M, Margie decided to terminate me yesterday with no explanation, except “going in a different direction”. Hopefully the direction is a different one than losing 3 more greenhouse staff managers in less than 6 months. [Context: the last two both quit in pretty short order, one after the other before me. Everyone else at the business that has covered for that job absolutely hates it. It's being a staff manager, taking care of every single plant that comes in, quality control, pest control, ordering wholesale, pricing everything, cashiering, managing purchase orders and inventory, helping customers with plants, and a splash of IT. I actually really loved it but it was definitely very stressful and the pay was barely enough. The owner is very possessive over the house plant department, since she financed the greenhouse after buying the business, even though she rarely works in it.] I can only theorize.…
Laid off today.
I bought a house on December 12th. I spoke with my direct supervisor in November and specifically asked if my position was secure before I bought the thing. I was let go 2 months later. The company just did a 10 million dollar stock buyback… 142 years of pay for me. Fuck corporations. Fuck fintech companies and fuck my life. I'd say I'm over this, but I know for god damn sure that I'll be working again soon. Just trying to remember that the next step is the most important one to take.
