My boss asked me why so many people are quitting. I think he asked me because I tend to be pretty close with the staff. I was honest and told him he’s fostering a toxic work environment and that’s why so many people are leaving/unhappy. I even gave him several examples. He responded, “Well, there’s nothing I can do about that. If people are unhappy that’s on them, and they can leave.” I responded, “Or you can reflect on the role you play in their suffering and do better?” Obviously, he ended the conversation at that point.

Better than fast food anyhow.

I’m a server. My availability is 9-430. My boss is scheduling me til 4 leaving an hour + of cleanup, so I’ve been stopping taking tables at 3 so I can leave on time. She is going to ask me why I need to leave at 430. What do I say? I need to leave for personal reasons? Ignore the question? That is my availability?

It’s so difficult to get a job nowadays especially during this time so I guess I just have to pull through this shit.. if you can’t bargain with your job might as well say this you’re a slave..

Hey. I really Fell like we should change what the describtion of this subreddit says, since i fell like this subreddit isnt about living workfree at all, maybe it has once been, but i wouldnt know. Its clearly about criticising the mentality that employers have towards employees of them only being recources and for people to remember that you should work to live, not the other way around.

So I started serving at Buffalo Wild Wings about a month ago, the workers are chill, but the other day as I’m about to head out, my manager says, “hey have you done your portioning for today?”. I say that I was never aware or showed or told I had to do any portioning. So then she makes me stay to finish a full box of wings, which I then only do a quarter of it and leave because I know my worth, but has anyone whose worked for them before think that they are unorganized?

My boss called me into her office today to tell me that I’ve gotten a 38 cent raise. For reference, I make fifteen an hour. She immediately followed it with telling me not to tell any of our coworkers because it’s against policy to discuss wages and when I told her that was illegal she basically argued with me. No one was around and I don’t have the discussion in writing but I’m afraid I may get fired or at least retaliated against for this. I live in the US. Anyone have any experiences like this or any advice? I’m honestly hoping it just blows over.
