Category: Antiwork
(For clarity, I support people with developmental and intellectual disabilities) So when I got hired I made it abundantly clear, in no uncertain terms, what my schedule was. Of my 3 bosses only one was willing to hire me, later she quit and I got transferred to one of the other bosses and she hated that I wasn't willing to work over time or flex my schedule, we butted heads 2 or 3 times over it, it got to the polite side of yelling because it wasn't fair to everyone else that I got to chose my schedule. So that boss just got promoted to director, and she came up with a new rule that everyone who has my job title needs to be available 24/7 for their clients no matter what. Not even for emergencies, like if my dude wants to go shopping and I'm hanging out with friends…

At least in the US, it send everybody's focused on getting $15/hr but what's the point in increasing you salary if the companies are going to just increase prices and higher wage means nothing? We should be talking about tying CXO and senior leadership salary to the lowest paid employee. For example, lowest paid employee makes $20k a year? The total comp of the highest paid person at the company can only be 10x that, so $200k. CEO wants to get paid more? He needs to increase the salary of the lowest employee.
No more birthday celebrations
This was years ago, but it still annoys me. I worked in an office and after about a year, I noticed that the only birthdays that were celebrated were for those that were higher up and made a lot of money. Yet all the rest of us were invited to celebrate and have some cake. I brought it up to my manager – how it seemed unfair that none of the lower level coworkers were celebrated. I suggested that people take turns bringing in snacks and celebrate monthly birthdays for everyone in the office. Apparently the higher level people weren’t happy with that and all birthday celebrations were cancelled after 6 months.
Things are looking up
The past year has been the best year of my life. I met my fiancée, we both understand and respect each others mental health and support each other, we have 3 cats and although it’s terrible that his grandma passed he was lucky enough to get a small inheritance to use as a house deposit (Let’s be honest without a leg up like that there would be no chance of any of us being able to afford a home). Anyway I’m on some pretty strong antipsychotics and I have a relatively good job that I do remotely. I get to sit in my spare room with my plushies. Although the 5 days a week 8 hours a day is draining I get Sundays off and every second Saturday. Today I booked in my holidays for 2023. I have 43 paid vacation days plus public holidays off and sick leave if…
I used to work at this company and had an asshole boss. Imagine the most typical asshole boss you can. Multiply that by 10. Yep, that's him. Guy was a bully, but at the same time wanted everyone to like him, so he would crack this weirdest jokes – everyone would laugh due to awkwardness and he thought that everyone loved him. So, long story short; Once he asks me to make this presentation. I work on it for a day, prepare a pretty normal one. Send it to him. He calls me to his office, saying that this is terrible. It's not gonna work. There is not much information and this needs to be totally redone. Meaning he wants me to retype all the material in there to make it look better. TBH, I am very self critical overall, but I knew he just wanted to show off his…
