Has anyone worked here?

I used to work at a company- Power Home Remodeling and am BLOWN at how this place is still successful and in business, it’s like the modern day pyramid scheme and is veryyy similar to Wolf of Wall Street antics. Would love to talk about some shared experiences here, as I have some horror stories. Also, why hasn’t a documentary come out yet?!

Any tips combatting burn out?

I’m a remote employee, and my days are long. I am inevitably burnt out. Can’t even do the bare minimum after work (I.e cook, shower, etc), depleted of energy, lack of sleep, can’t concentrate on working tasks. and just irritable. I also live in the Midwest where it’s cold and dark by 4pm. I take vitamins and that’s about it. Any tips on how to fight this burn out? I just took 10 days off but that obviously did nothing for me. After resting for two days straight, I think my body finally caught up with me and I got sick immediately.

Mom Looking for a Job

TL;DR at the bottom My mom brought me and three of my siblings to the US about 9 years ago. Being an immigrant, she wasn't legally allowed to work. However, through various house cleaning jobs and selling for an MLM she somehow raised all four of us by herself and paid for our citizenship processes. Now she started the process herself and has just received her work permit, meaning that she is now legally allowed to work. However at 55 with no experience in the US, I know it's not gonna be easy. The last thing I want is to see my mom being exploited for minimum wage after everything she's done for us, so I'm turning to this community since you are the most critical of shitty workplaces. Does anyone have any ideas for a job that will take her, pay her a decent wage, and not exploit her?…

How to come to terms with the fact that I will have to work until I die?

Obviously I'm not saying I refuse to work and that I just want to sit at home playing games and leeching off others. Because I realize some work is necessary and the things I do everyday and take for granted would not be possible without the labor of others. This phone that I used to write this – someone else designed it, manufactured it and built it. Someone else made the clothes that I wear. The bus won't go anywhere without a bus driver. I can't buy groceries without truck drivers, cashiers and people stocking shelves. So in a way, everyone contributes something, so that everyone's lives can be a little easier. But at the same time I feel like a slave. Like I have no choice – contribute or starve to death. And if I tell someone I have a problem with that? Then that's a mental illness, I'm…

Job lied about hours and I want to quit but they say I need to give a one-month’s notice

Hi there. For reference, this is taking place in New Zealand. I recently took on a new job which I’ve been doing for about three weeks now. The hours are averaging out at about 12-hours a day, which is not at all what they described in the interview. It’s 5 days a week, but they keep trying to call me in on my days off, which I keep declining. They’re severely understaffed, which I understand, however, the roles and hours are not at all as originally described. I spoke with my manager and told her I’m considering leaving in two weeks. Her response was that since I’ve signed a fixed term contract (this is true), I need to give a one-month’s notice (I’m not sure if this is true or not). My friend pointed out that there should be a probation period which I’m falling under, where they can fire…

Can my employer require me to change into my work uniform off the clock?

Uniforms are required where I work, however my manager forces us to take our uniforms home, so they do not have to compensate us for donning and doffing our uniforms. I keep my uniforms in my car cause I do not have the space at home for them, I would much rather keep my uniforms at work in the uniform room. So my questions are: 1. can my employer require me to take my work uniform home? 2. Can my employer require me to change off the clock? Currently I bring uniform to work, clock in and then I change, but my manager says I can’t do that.

Job wants to put me on night shift from daylight.

We are switching from 12 hrs 2 on 2 off schedule 7 days a week to 8 hrs 5 days a week. I’ve been here 7 years and have seniority over everyone at my position on every shift. Reasons they want me on night shift is I am single and have no kids and it’s easier for me to do it then people with kids.
