My manager seriously told me during my performance review that he wanted to have rated me higher because he feels that I deserve it but couldn't because the company had changed the way that ratings are done. This is also the same company that told me that if I talked to any of my coworkers about my meager raise, it would be grounds for termination. My rating description? Successfully performs all goals and objectives. Literally a C grade performer because I do the job I get paid to do and nothing more. Absolutely wild.

The terms 'housing shortage' and 'housing crisis' get thrown around a lot when discussing the state of life in the US. People are constantly asking how we can solve these problems, and those solutions never seem to work. I say the reason for this is that they're trying to solve a problem that doesn't actually exist. There are 33 empty properties for each homeless person in the US. There are objectively enough living quarters already existing for everyone in the US. This means there cannot be a housing shortage. The barriers that exist between people and the multitudes of currently existing homes don't come from anything having to do with the houses themselves. Every single barrier comes from a failure of policy. Our government's current stance on housing is that people having the freedom to accumulate excess is more important than guaranteeing everyone the right to the bare minimum (in…
He should get raised
Immediate boss proceeded to tell me that’s not in my job description and that he didn’t want to overwork me on tasks that shouldn’t be placed on me. Then stated he’ll reach out to HR head about it. Despite the fact that I’ve told them multiple times over several months the exact tasks are not in my job description that they make me do that burn me out. Despite the fact that I already do the thing I’m being trained on but in a different, more time consuming system. Despite the fact that it’s so I can transition into a better position next quarter. All in the name of “sorry, my protective side for my team is coming out and I want to make sure you’re taken care of”.
So I've been working at Academy for almost 4 months and I was hired on a full time basis. For 2 months I've been getting 38-44 hours each week which was awesome for me. I honestly love working there, but 2 months ago we were assigned a new store director. Since then, my hours were cut. I was ranging from 24-32. I can get by on 32 but less makes things more difficult for my situation. But since the new director came in, my schedule lost its consistency. I had been working Mon-Fri 5am-1pm and would usually stay later to help. Now I'm going in a 3am working to 9pm so my hours are cut much more. I'm even starting to get more days off and they keep telling us it's because the store doesn't have enough hours. But at the same time they keep complaining we don't have enough…
