So I got a text from my GM. Apparently our store has a 3.75 review score out of 5. She wants us to go on and write a good review of the store. I’ma pass. First off I always read reviews of my job sites. The bad reviews were from 6 months to a year+ ago. I’ve been at my store oh about 3 months. There’s a clear time frame when it was bad service & their just NOW worried about it. As it stands their lying to our customers. Me leaving a good review is NOT going to change how our customers overall see the store. People will not come to a store because an employee says it’s great. They’ll come because another actual customer likes it. Sorry I can’t in good conscience lie out my ass by writing a review that I know is a bunch of bull.

Spoiled spouses
I work with 2 people who are flat out against any sort of national healthcare or assistance to the poor. Both are part time and one, who even the most enthusiastic anti-worker would say is overpaid, is married to the boss. They work for something to do during the day and for some personal spending cash. Both are married to people who make multiple hundreds of thousands and have company healthcare that pays for the entire family. I heard the premium once and it alone is more than most of the employees at the job make in a month. By the way, those other employees don't get healthcare through work at all. I'm sure you can guess the age group: 60+. Every day I hear that those on food stamps just want something for free. Government healthcare? “My tax dollars shouldn't pay for other's bad habits.” Despite all other insurances…
Today was a little interesting
Apparently the vents for the grill don’t work so it set off the fire alarm. We’ve been told by the cops and fire responders that we’re not allowed to use the grill for the time being. Tonight felt like a lovely night to fill out a little form to OSHA, filled with several other hazards that’s been sitting for a while and my manager not doing anything about it. 🙂
Anyone else having a hard time not getting interviews or past the interview process while looking for jobs? I’m currently employed but unfortunately my hours been cut back and I’m working two days a week. Everyday after work, I go onto Indeed (and other websites), and look at jobs that seem like a perfectish fit for me and apply. I’ve been job searching for about 4 weeks, and applied to 10+ plus jobs available online, and sent out my resume to a few close businesses nearby. I’ve only gotten one interview as of now, and after emailing the HR about future inquiries, they ghosted me. Not even a rejection email. Same thing happened when I tried calling my local recreational community center after turning in my resume. I live in a small town. Our major retailer, Walmart has a huge employee turn-over rate and smaller businesses do an awful job…
Ok so this actually happened a few years back when I was in the process of interviewing for a server/bartender position at an Outback Steakhouse. I didn’t end up taking the job but a post from another redditor in here about their job wanting all the workers to turn in their phones before clocking in made me think of it. I applied for a job at Outback Steakhouse and the manager informed me that they had a very strict “no phones” policy and that they would occasionally search employees pockets to make sure they didn’t have their phone with them. Part of the “training” for the job was this online course narrated by this goofy computer character that was several hours long and unpaid. It was very similar to a driving course you would get if you got a ticket while driving. There was a timer and the program would…
I quit my job of almost 2 years
For almost 2 years I worked as an IT Specialist I working 10 – 12 hours a day M-F sometimes weekends in order to make ends meet. Here is a little of what I handled: onboarding/off boarding I created scripts to automate half of the Helpdesk work load (was informed that i should not have created them) managed all of the incoming requests via email. I wanted to be a team lead, I was informed that even though I was deemed a team lead without the title I am too young for the position. I attempted to get on a different team within my department and I was informed since you do not have a degree you need 10 years of experience and that I am to young for the position. Even though I wasn’t on the team and I wasn’t supposed to create scripts my manager was sending them…
And who do you work for, again?
Hey everyone. I'm 22, about 8 months post-graduation, and I'm working as a legal assistant. In the interview, my now boss stated that this position would have “overtime some times” as well as saying that he's “had people try to come in at 8 in order to get off at 4, but likes people to stay until 5”. Sounded fine to me as 9-5 was expected, and I know that this field is notorious for long hours (of course, this varies depending on your boss/firm). Turns out I work 2-3 hours of overtime daily. But that doesn't do it justice- I literally have to wait on my boss' permission to leave. Every day. Doesn't matter what day, time, occasion. Long story short, I'm unable to make any post-work plans M-F, including going to the gym, grocery shopping, or seeing friends. I literally never know when I'll get off. My parents…
I just want to play basketball
My favorite thing in all of the world, that I wish I could do all day everyday, is play basketball. My body isn't what is used to be, my recovery is becoming longer and longer, the pain is sharper and sharper. My grandma only seems to see me for my use, which is move heavy things. I worked many jobs in fast food, target, grocery stores, all the classic starter jobs, only to be exploited for little pay, unappreciation for my work ethic (which is good), and more body pain. Thats the backstory A few months ago I quit my desk job which was 12 hours a day, 5 days a week, no discussion. The immense workload wasn't even the problem, nor the hour commute. One day my boss humiliated me infront of everyone and like the kind of humiliation where my coworkers ask if im ok… I let that…
