I’ve been at my current job doing hospital administration work for almost 19 years. Lately the pace has increased so much that I’m finding it harder & harder to keep up. I’m a few weeks away from turning 46 & feel like I need something more relaxing. Is it possible that I’m aging out of this job?

This is the second occurrence with the same coworker(Michael) in three years. The first instance amounted to an invitation from Michael to meet him in the parking lot at 4:00 pm to settle an argument. Nothing happened that day. However, I brought it to management’s attention and the threat was simply dismissed with a reply of, “no fighting on company grounds…” The second instance occurred today; where Michael laid his hands on me and shoved me into the side of an operating die cast machine. Again, I brought it to management’s attention and was met with the response, “ take it like a man and deal with it on your own. You and Michael need to work your shit out on your own…” Studies have shown that workplace violence tends to escalate and sure as shit I am a statistic. 1st incident: “…no fighting on company grounds.” 2nd incident: Michael…
The tone totally changed after I asked this. “Well, I guess I'll ask how important it is to you.” What the fuck do you think I'm going to say? “The thought of having a life makes me want to end it! I want to work every waking hour!” He went on to tell me how much potential money I could make growing in the company (which was true), but he was honest – it's a lot of hours. I wanted to want the job, I wanted to get my foot in the door for the industry, I wanted it on my resume, and I wanted to build my skillset. But fuck man… I want to have a life.

Does your boss give you clear goals?
My boss is all about “drive”, “consistency”, and “innovation”, but doesn't give me any clear performance goals. With 20 years of experience in the tech industry, I know the importance of clear goals, but my boss doesn't seem to understand this. I feel like I'm constantly being given busy work and pulled away from important projects. It's difficult to focus on improving processes when I'm not given the time to research and plan. When is the right time to go to HR and explain that my department is operating without clear goals? Any advice on how to communicate with a boss who doesn't seem to understand the importance of clear goals? #boss #performancegoals #frustrated
I read the comments on another subreddit about dividends. They comment how they are going to increase their annual dividend income by $500,$1000, etc. They seems full of hope. I read on this subreddit a bunch of depressing comments. Do both subreddits have different demographics than the other? Do any of you invest in order to escape work?
