Is there a term for this? And also is there anything employees can do to combat it? I can't say for certain but it looks to me like this is happening to a friend of mine at their place of work. Current supervisor went on maternity leave, then corporate brought in someone from outside to fill her position until she comes back. Or so they say. But this new person came in day one and was combative and disrespectful to everyone, talked down to everyone right away, was nitpicking and micromanaging every little thing anyone did, to the point that multiple people were in tears within the first few hours of them being there. Literally wouldn't even tell anyone their first name, just Mr./Mrs. last initial. They were also taking video of employees and sending them to corporate, as well as going through files and sharing information with corporate over…

Prorated bonus
So my job gives us a small bonus twice a year which I haven’t been eligible to get so far because I am still on probation. They announced a bonus today and my probation ends on 1st Feb so literally about two weeks more. The bonus is $5000 and HR emailed me that it’s gonna be prorated to $3000 and I will get it after probation ends. I don’t understand this. What is this weird calculation that takes out $2000 for two weeks. Not to mention, I’ve been working very hard and being made to cover up for people too when they’re not there which is literally all the time. How can I contest this? Also; this is a government organization
Travel time to conference not paid?
I started with my current employer about 2 1/2 years ago. Now that the pandemic is not as large of a concern, we're allowed to travel for conferences again. I have an out of staye conference requiring air travel. I asked my boss if travel time is considered “on the clock” since I will be flying on Monday and Thursday. HR has responded that they need to check with executive staff. My prior job had me traveling over half the year, and travel time was always paid. Does anyone have a job that doesn't pay them travel time? I can't imagine spending over 6 hours of my week traveling for work and not being paid. I've read through all our policies, and we have nothing that addresses this.
I'm a PA at a studio. Classified as a contractor. I have worked there for over 1 year now, and tried very hard to be a great employee. When I'm there I am proactive, friendly, independent. There have been various times other coworkers didn't show up and I had to do all the work. For example, one of the last times I was there, a higher paid coworker was supposed to help do a big project with me but decided to take a random long lunch, so I ended up doing most of the work. A supervisor even said that they would remember this and appreciated how hard I work. In general I love working there but the worst part by far is my manager. I feel like she expects perfection and if someone isn't perfect, they're fired or not asked to come in much. I witnessed 4 other PAs…
My company has been redefining my role every year or two. They find a political issue in the office and then change my team’s job to include this new item. This year we are now in charge of the pipeline for new business. The team that had that responsibility still has that responsibility, but we do now also. Great management at work. Why do something once when you can do it twice for double the cost.
If only landlords were like this.
Im a dish washer. Most of the sinks don’t work, we have no towels today for me to dry things and dry my hands, and this is the second week within 2 months that he’s failed to bring in our paychecks on payday. Am I justified to be pissed or this normal for jobs? (This is my first real job, used to resell.) I owe people money and need money to buy shit for myself. Opinions?
