I’m so tired of interviewing, it’s literally harder than the actual job itself and, in most cases, has nothing to do with merit in the position. It is simply who can put on the best song and dance routine or you get lucky and the person conducting is either casual enough or you just happen to get along with them. I don’t really want any of these positions I just need the money and I don’t really see why that’s not an acceptable answer as long as I can do the work well and I’m not unbearable to be around or straight up rude. It feels physically impossible for me to have to pretend to be excited about working in like administration or whatever and you’re probably a sociopath if it’s something you look forward to. It’s all so emotionally and mentally taxing but I can barely afford my rent…

I'm in Washington HR scheduled an appointment with me to talk about my concerns after I sent a brief email detailing how a new policy affects me. They are implementing a new policy that makes 39hrs a week part-time. I responded to her “Thank you for the invitation, but I would prefer to communicate through email. Thank you” I'm at work right now. If she insists on a meeting, can I reject the invitation without being reprimanded?
PTO use for everything…
Had a job last year, their definition of an unexcused absence was anything that didnt get covered by PTO. The kicker was they allowed up to 8 hours of unexcused absence a month but they had it split by pay period. So the only way around it to prevent losing your commision was to only call out for half days once in a given pay period. But who the fuck calls in sick at 8am but then shows up at 1pm… They demanded I use my PTO if I was sick or had a doctors appointment. Wgich made no sense to me because how do tour workers take vacation time? If i accrue a total of 9 PTO days a year thats less than 1 a month. Basically if i get sick for 3 days i have to wait 4 months to get that PTO time back?!?!? I refused to…
I feel like I’m being shafted. Am I?
I started a new job 3 months ago. Agreed to a salary. When I began working, I was given about a week to learn everything. And then I was asked to take on some extras, such as event planning, marketing and such. I just had my 3 month review last week. I got slapped with a performance improvement plan, and a pay cut. $200 less per month. My duties are the same. Nothing has changed. I was told that I have to make improvements within 3 months. I was also told that I have already been improving significantly. But I still got a pay cut Things I've been told to improve: keeping better track of clients notes and being a better team player. My manager herself omits notes on a daily basis, and there are times that I have to add a note for her because she forgot to. I'm…
Doing the right thing…hmmm
You have to love it when a company posts this on LinkedIn but has all their employees working because they don't recognize it as a holiday. Talk about corporate BS. https://preview.redd.it/g0uw87yosfca1.png?width=542&format=png&auto=webp&v=enabled&s=346115f41003e070e9b01fd6a9f51122b40ab5da
I work as a seamstress for a small manufacturing company. It is a 3rd generation business, the current owner is running it into the ground. He gets drunk sometimes at work. He fired an employee who was putting in their 3 week notice so now we are even more short staffed. He won't fire his project manager who just sits in his office and does nothing all day. The owner tried to pressure me to work in the cutting department since he fired his other employee. I felt really pushed to accept, he even said he was trying to stroke my ego to get me to say 'yes'. It felt really manipulative. I left work Thursday afternoon after having a panic attack, and haven't been back yet. They would really hurt if they lost me. I am the only seamstress there that does repairs, and I have a decades worth…
