It’s funny to me how we consistently hear the “nobody wants to work” rhetoric or see commercials on hiring software so employers can find the best candidate for their respective roles, and yet over the last few months applying for jobs and doing interviews I am consistently amused by how terrible employers are at conducting interviews. Some of my favorites have been: asking you SUPER vague questions and then getting annoyed when you ask them to clarify, asking the same question multiple times with slightly different wording, asking you questions that can easily be answered on the résumé that they are looking at, or those general annoying questions like “I see you applied at our call service center, are you comfortable taking phone calls?” Curious to hear about some of your experiences as I am feeling pretty frustrated with all this, and could use a good laugh.

I have degree from a 4 year university and 10 years of B2B sales experience. Problem is I have not worked for the last 3 years (except for gig work).. After applying for about 100 jobs and getting 6 interviews I finally got a job offer. For context at my level I should be making around $130k USD (minimum). The offer is for $50k, I was just flabbergasted. I asked how much I could make with bonuses and the total is $75K. I don't know what to do with this, I told the hiring team my salary requirements after the first interview and they said “ok” and moved to the next, after the second interview they said the 50k number and I said that was not enough and they said we would be able to negotiate. No? What's the point of remote work if I have to invite my boss and coworkers into my own home. Sure you can put on a filter, but there's people I live with walking around might get caught in the video, stuff directly in the sight of my camera, I have to look “presentable” rather than kicking back in a hoodie and sweats, have to have morning showers rather than on lunch break. Imagine getting to work from home only to have the exact same physical appearance expectations as in the office. Half these guys are sitting in their home office with a collar shirt and a tie. Why? To the many people on this page looking for jobs on this page and in the ——— area this is my advice and honest feedback to you from someone who owns and manages multiple companies in ——— and has been the hiring manager at other companies before. 1) Your resume probably sucks. I get over 10 resumes a day that are at least 2 pages long and quite simply every time they go into I delete them or through them. A good resume should be 1 page long and to the point. 2) Check up on your application or reapply if you hear nothing back.
