manager needs help
Hey my people. Feel free to tear me a new one (roast am I the a hole) my partner is an administrative assistant or a cheap manager. She was work from home till about 3 months ago. Since she has had to “be in office”. She got passed over twice for her “AA” role and surprise she got promoted when she applied for the same role in a different department. She trained both of the people promoted to her current roll but only got it after the first quit outright and the second had a hidden pregnancy (good for the new hire hiding the baby, I'd tell my love to do the same) now she's held the roll for 8+months and is killing it. She's gotten 3 raises and I'm so proud. But she's been working 50-60 hour weeks for 18 months to prove her legitimacy. She works in medical…
https://www.npr.org/2023/01/12/1148634966/elon-musk-guinness-world-records I cannot even comprehend this much money. Even losing $200 BILLION he has enough money to live 7,000 lifetimes without working again. That is obscene! Something is wrong here!
Why is it legal when they do it?
I started a new job as of November last year, a petrol station cleric to be more accurate. I quit after the management changed my hourly rate twice I lost $2.50p/h extra through all of December they ignored every call I made and actively send me in circles while I was chasing my money. Its now January and I still have not recived anything. I threatened Head office with legal action last week and they ensured me that I would recieve that money. I still havent recieved anything. At this point I am done. I want some help knowing what my options are to get some kind of satisfaction. What proof do I have? All i've go is my contract which has 3 different pay rates on it (2 retroactively scribbled out as if it were done by a toddler). And multiple emails from 2 different HR reps claiming that…
Flair: VENT RANT (flairs aren't offered so I made my own lol) Disclaimer: It's the only good paying job I can get in the area that's not $7.25 an hour since I can't drive. I'm currently self learning front end development so this will be a thing in the past soon. Thank god Story: So I work at a factory, 3rd shift. Normal factory. On 3rds, we get a shift differential of 7 cents an hour more than 1st hr. (2nd shift gets a 3 cent differential than 1st). We have an optional union membership, through the IAM Union (aerospace and mechanics. Something like that). Since workers are too broke to do any form of striking, raises are left up to the union and the company. So the contracts are 3 years long. The first year of a new contract, company wide gets 80c raise, then 25c for year 2…
Just needing to vent. This may get long. I work for a major corporation, as one of 6 managers in our unit within my field. I’ve been with the company over 8 years and I’m good at what I do. My boss is interim, from a different department, and is clueless. I do most of the training, reporting, organizing in our team and am her back up for just about anything that may need support. This past year I worked on a number of major projects beyond the scope of my position, proactively created materials for training, volunteered time to lead several pilot programs… and maintained numbers in line with my peers. My feedback from my direct reports is great, despite a lot of performance issues. You see, we went remote when Covid hit and at first went in to massive lay offs, hiring freeze, offered early retirement packages… then…
I recently started playing the Imperial March when my boss arrives at our monthly department meetings. Any other suggestions?
