Last pay day.

Hi all, So I gave a 3 months notice from Nov to end of Jan. Unfortunately I couldn't finish my 3 months, but I completed a full 2 months. I joined another department where I am currently a recruit. I'm in training atm that commenced on Jan 9th. We got an email only a week prior to our start date. Today is pay day for my last job, but I haven't gotten my last pay…. All my ex Co workers got paid, except for me. So, idk what to do or think about it. I thought by law I am supposed to get paid the time over worked. Any advice on how to proceed with this ? Thanks.

Does anyone know if I can request an audit by the labor board?

I was recently working at a company that has many issues regarding labor regulations. For example, they got my pay wrong many times (and I’ve heard the same for others), I literally only had time to take lunch a few times over the course of months of being there, and never had time for other breaks. As far as pay goes, it’s gotten so complicated to track whether or not I’m still owed anything and by my estimation it’s close enough for me to not care. However, I was literally one of the only people checking to make sure my pay rates and hours were correct so I’m fairly certain that my old coworkers have been victims of wage theft. Because of this, I want to request an audit due to possible gross wage theft and labor violations for the sake of the people still working there. Is this even…

“Impartial” unemployment investigator is – wait for it – super obviously bias

I just need to vent, I’m so angry. I quit my job at the beginning of August due to workplace bullying that my direct supervisor obviously didn’t care about. It’s a long story with a lot of drama, but whatever. I quit and submitted an application for unemployment and it got approved because they investigated and agreed that my workplace was so toxic I had to quit. Well, they changed their minds and are now apparently disagreeing with my reasons for leaving. So that means today, I got a lovely phone call from Barbara (fake name), a dedicated employee of unemployment, to investigate. Barbara asked for my version of events. One of the biggest issues I had is that my direct supervisor was aware of all of these problems for MONTHS, and did nothing (and continues to do nothing, according to people who still work there). Well, Barbara, who has…

I took a 4 week vacation around the holidays and got assured that it wasn’t my fault, and that it could happen to anyone

I have a stressful job as a software engineer so I always like to take at least 3 weeks vacation back to back. I live in Europe so enough days off 🙂 But in my company there is always pressure to work as much as possible and to do overtime. So I carefully requested my time off in the course of few months so the management wouldn't notice that it would amount to 4 weeks. First I requested 10 days in December, then a few weeks later – the first week of January, and finally the rest of the days. When I come back on Monday I had a 1:1 with one of my team mates who is at a more senior position but is not my boss. He told me that my input was invaluable and I was missed during those 4 weeks. And then assured me that anyway,…

On call?

Flooding in the area closed our office and we were told not to work and put “on call”. If you are on call for most of your normal shift and then get called 2 hours before the time you were supposed to be off and asked to work 8 hours, and decline because you don’t have child care, can you not be paid for any of the time?

Can my employer deduct time from my PTO when their systems stop working, leaving me unable to work?

I work from home in Kansas. Today my system stopped working and I wasn’t able to log in to do my job for about 30 minutes. My internet and everything on my end was working fine. They threatened to use my PTO to cover the time that I wasn’t able to work. Is that even legal?

Am I working for a cult company?

I am a 1099 independent contractor (most likely technically an employee by letter of the law but the company I work for would sooner declare bankruptcy than compensate us fairly) in outside sales for a merchant service provider, that is to say, a credit card processing company. I will not disclose the name of the company which I work for because I’m worried I could get in serious trouble with my boss if I do. They bring on tons of people at a time (my group in training was over 70 people) and most of the people who were welcomed in with me have since left the company. Being a 1099 position, it is 100% commission with no base pay. I knew that going in and I have no one to blame but myself for falling for their gimmick and taking the job. Here’s where it becomes a cult. Every…
