I work in a small family owned butcher shop. I've been there 5 plus years now. I have seen soooo many come and go. Always seems like we are short staffed and for that reason even if someone sucks or breaks the rules if they get fired we are short handed again. That being said, new girl has the locker below mine which so reeks of weed I go home with all my belongings stinking of weed. I don't care what you do on your own time and I am not anti weed but it sucks she's making my stuff stink! Still it's a step above the old lady that worked there for awhile and she pooped her pants one day and stuck her dirty drawers in the locker below mine…

I don’t think we are using our tech and opportunities to have work-life balance to our advantage.
Just beforehand I want to say I have nothing against smokers. My parents and the person I'm dating smoke, I just don't myself and don't see why I should get slighted and given unfair treatment like this just because I don't. I have 2 different stories that just feel like they fit here. If anyone knows a better subreddit feel free to let me know. Story 1: working at a large chain thrift store. getting followed and harassed by a customer to the point they're getting in the way while I'm trying to put out stock. Tell Assistant Manager (AM) that I am going to take my break now (breaks were never scheduled here we always just made sure not all of us went on break at once). AM- “Sorry but new company policies state if you work shift of x hours and clock out for your lunch you only…
Keep what you work hard to earn
I’ve been at this new job for a little over a month now. I am a janitor at an industrial plant for context. The total list of tasks they want me to do feels like way too much to be able to accomplish in a single day. And that’s with working my current shift, which has less tasks than the one I was actually hired for. I know I naturally work slower than the average person, which doesn’t help my case, but working a pace faster than the one I’m currently working just isn’t sustainable for me. And that’s my problem. The workload they want me to do is just not sustainable for me. I’m already starting to feel the oncoming effects of burnout. I don’t want to keep job hopping, bc I know that looks bad to future employers, and I had a hard enough time finding this job,…
Employer has had RTO since last year, and claims to be “flexible” and that it's up to the employee to decide how many days but this needs to be agreed with the line manager. I was doing 2 days a week for about 8 months, and now my manager wants me in 3 days for the dumbest reason — the head of another team (we don't even report into him) wants to see everyone in more. My presence is absolutely not required for the role, I'm only a seat warmer but I still go in anyway. I'm unwilling to do 3 days in this harsh winter climate (mid western winters), I don't wanna fall sick. Would like to explore what rights I have to push back, and get your opinions with below facts: 1) No official rule that states it has to be 3 days min at office, some people…
