Man in 80s retires after a fundraiser…
How absolutely and utterly depressing is this? “Warren “Butch” Marion, 82, a US navy veteran from Maryland, got the surprise of a lifetime when he received a check for more than $100,000 after a local business owner, Roy McCarty, organized a collection online.” https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2023/jan/10/walmart-cashier-82-retire-fundraising-warren-butch-marion
Landlords exist solely to make money off an essential need while providing no value to society. Economists fuckin named the practice of expanding costs without expanding goods/services as “rent seeking behavior” so even shitty, capitalist-brained supporters agree that rent-seeking is bad, landlords are worthless and everyone knows it. The only people that deny this are landlords and people that think they'll become landlords and can't wait to start shoving the boot down.
Shes worked there for 7 years and suddenly, 'not needed, bye'
any advice antiworkers?
Backstory: I started working at a firm as a Social Media Manager in March. When hired, I was promised health insurance and a 401k with a 100% employee match within three months of working there. I accepted the role and started. I was never given a formal job offer, signed an NDA, non-compete, non-solicitation, or contract. Once I started, it was disclosed to me that the company didn’t have a group policy and for the first three months I didn’t have health insurance. (Resulting in paying a lot for my meds) They finally told me that the other couple employees who were on insurance had it through the marketplace and he was paying for it. Like literally asked for my login on marketplace.gov and setting up the payment. (This feels not legal.) Throughout my time, I was also never given any sort of retirement. On top of all of this,…
Forced PTO Holidays
There has been something fishy going on regarding PTO at my company. Last year they moved us to an accrual based PTO system from the lump sum based system we have had for years. This year they modified it so now it's split 3 different ways (personal/sick/vacation) in addition to being accrual. But now today, they sent out a 2023 holiday calendar (listing all the holidays we will get off) that informs us that there are two holidays we are MANDATED to take using our PTO? Is it legal to force us to take a holiday on our own dime? The PTO changes already felt ridiculous as it is, but forcing us to use our PTO hours for something they're forcing on us crosses a line for me.
So I use to work for two pretty well known phone carrier companies you all most likely know, but anyway a huge rise of unethical shit has happened. Lemme start off with the Magenta carrier. Depending if it’s from a third party or corporate “happens more with third party retailers” a lot of management or sales people will lie to you that an item isn’t here. I get it the whole sales sales sales thing is important but lying isn’t cool man…. A lot of these stores will lie to you that a product isn’t here if you aren’t buying accessories or another item. I’ve had management no shit cuss and scream at me for not offering more stuff to these people. Also BEWARE OF T-CHARTS they do not save you money!!! If you see one just run and don’t waste your time with that store. Their not “saving you…
