what to do if “striking is made illegal”
but you still need to “strike” well you have 2 options Definition of strike – collective slow down or stoppage of work to derive more gainful benefits from the employer. everyone full stop quits. we are protected under our at will agreements. we gather with our coworkers and agree to terms (devise our own contracts) and submit them until they are approved. This is outside of the scope of strike as everyone has forfeited their benefits, health insurance, and banked PTO (if any) and no longer work for the company, they are free to hire a store full of new employees or they can sign your paper. Second option is simple – become ineffective at your duty. Lets say youre a welder? just non stop fail to make the part or put holes through it. “oops hand slipped boss”….grocerer? forgot to scan an item in the belt. this type of…
I just got laid off.
I should preface this by giving some context: I'm a 25 Y/O dude that's been trying to find independence for the past 7 years. I've been bouncing from odd-job to odd-job, from a cashier at a deli store, to working in a warehouse lifting crates of products, I've been a canine hairdresser and also vet assistant, and lastly I caught a WFH style job. I was quite happy with this last one because it meant I could work comfortable and however I pleased. Even if for American standards I was making a misery ($450 a month) I was making about double of min income in my country (take a guess). What I find most amusing about my experience is that I always got laid off and the reason I've been given is that the economy is in shambles and we need to reduce costs. Nothing personal just business. This is…
Job is trying to kiss our asses?
The first Christmas you work at my job you get a bonus for $250.00. Then it goes up to $500.00 your second year, third is $750.00. It maxes out at $1000.00 for your 4th year and that's what it stays after that. We were told at 3pm, a mere 9 hours before most of the workers get paid, that we weren't receiving our bonuses this year. We were also 2 months backed up on our monthly vouchers for when we make the numbers they set up. Also never received the $50.00 bonuses for when we made a specific product. Everytime we make that product, the next paycheck should have the extra money. We've made those shitty ass things 4 times now and not once gotten that bonus. We finally received a monthly voucher which only added up to the two months we didn't get them before. Boss wanted us to…
State- Maine Employer of over 1,000 employees changed their policy regarding my PTO without providing notice prior to January 1st and well after our primary vacation requests for 2023 that were due on December 12, 2022. The new policy states that we now start the year off with 0 PTO, and must work x amount of days to earn a fraction of a shift. My vacation was for the first week of January and my current PTO allowance is -36 hours. If I were to leave the company now, I would have to pay for 36 hours of pay. We used to start the year with our full allowance of PTO based on tenure, for this case, I was approaching 200 hours per year. Secondly, if we use a PTO on a paid holiday going forward, we will not be paid our 12 hours of PTO, only the 8 hours…
But not before they had me get up at 6am, travel an hour to office in the pouring the rain, and work for two hours. That’s the part I’m pissed off about the most, since I was going to quit soon anyway. Hoping I can find something a little less soul crushing so I can make my rent next month.
Work Docks Pay for Sick Days
Yesterday, I found out that I used more sick days than I believed I had. Now, for the next month – my pay is being cut by over 100 dollars. Already stretched thin on regular pay, and with my health issues (food I can eat is expensive as hell and doctors appointments) this cut is going to suck. So for the next month – and maybe even more- I'm going to do the bare minimum. Usually, I show up ten to fifteen minutes early to work and from lunch – now – I will clock in right on the dot. I am a fast typer – 95 wpm – now, I'm feeling about 40 to 45 wpm. I'm pissed and understand things like this happen. I just don't understand why no one informed me of this at all until yesterday. Oh well – once I was a worker who went…
Every American should be guaranteed the same time off federal workers get. It’s such BS that the richest country can’t provide it’s citizens with a minimum vacation time like every other modern country. Allowing greedy companies to decided has obvious results. For example, the company I work for only observes 7 holidays and gives zero days days of vacation during your first year and only five after while adding only one day each year up to a maximum of 15. Minus the holidays I have had only 9 days off in over two years. Of course the company I work for thinks that is fair..
