So I started a new job or I guess didn’t start a new job at a dealership. I was sent home because I was 2 minutes late. Literally in the parking lot 2 mins before the time I was verbally told to come in at. trying to figure out where employee parking was only to find out it was locked behind a gate which I didn’t know the password to as it required one and this manager that sent me home did not think to even tell me what it was after I did some onboarding last week. Called my phone and ask where I was saying I was supposed to be here at 9 meanwhile I explained to him that I was in the parking lot needing assistance with getting into employee parking. He goes left field about me being late and that I can go home and whatever…

I know this is anti work, but like or not, as long as it’s at will employment, the employers typically will have the say/power over the employees Hypothetically, say someone asks for a day off that’s a few weeks away and it gets denied for whatever reason. Then what? Options are accept it was denied, or not show up and deal with whatever consequence? I get that it’s supposed to be telling them of your absence, but what if a lot want the same days off? What would be the best way to tell your employer of your absense after it was denied? Do some people really quit over this?

I work at an insurance company as an EA and due to life changes I’ve had to move back home for 3 months whilst in between moving apartments. My two execs were fine with this however HR had to send a serious email explaining they will need to “ review “ me at the end of January to ensure I can fulfil my job requirements whilst remotely. It is strange as they’ve allowed multiple senior staff to work for 9-12 months in other cities or to move with partners for 6 months but as I am lower rank they seem to be Karen’s about it. Oh and I did my job well fully remotely for a whole year during lockdown and was awarded a “ star” award which comprised of a $50 Uber eats gift card (lol) 2 years in and no pay rise.

Two months into a three month contract-to-hire job through an agency and I’ve found a better opportunity with PTO and benefits starting day 1. Gonna send an email to the agency after 5:00 their time saying I won’t be returning. Their employee handbook has a section on their at will work expectations and notice of termination by either party requires no notice. Maybe the company I’m actually doing work for will rethink staffing their specialty technical positions through an agency. Doesn’t matter to me because I’m off to a Caribbean island for a week starting Saturday and then a week off after that before the new job starts on the 30th.

In between my shifts at work today I went to the salon to get a haircut. A phone number I don’t recognise calls me and I pick up in case one of my colleagues need my help with anything. The colleague who called me was extremely aggressive with his tone on the phone and starts accusing me of laughing at him at work and he’s clearly outraged about it. He says things like “you fucking idiot”, “I’m not your little friend so who are you to laugh at me”, “I’m bigger than you, much bigger than you”, “you need to come to me tomorrow at work and talk to me”. I’m of course very scared, shocked and confused as to what he means. After my haircut I immediately call the other colleagues I worked with that day and my boss to inform him of the incident.
