Working after giving notice
Long story short, I gave my notice before the holidays since I’m starting a new job in February. Everyone at current job is nice, I just don’t like the work and the new job is something I like. My current job is the highest paid job I’ve ever had. It is a temp job covering an executive assistant who is out on maternity. I’m actually taking a pay cut for the new job since I like the work way more. Im struggling with keeping focused here at work and feeling kinda guilty of basically just showing up to cash a paycheck. I’m starting to get the feeling that others are noticing my lack of productivity. My boss is currently on vacation so being his assistant, I have almost nothing to do this week. Kinda intensifying this feeling of guilt. Idk if this is the usual kind of post in this…

Anything I should know?
So I mentioned in an older post that my team (we’re all technical writers) got a new manager who I’m realizing is kinda actually terrible. In my older post, I mentioned how my coworkers and I were feeling overworked and how this new manager sprang projects on us last minute. Moral was (and still is) low so we came together as a team and presented in a meeting to managers the problems we were having and proposing solutions. Long story short, we asked for an extension on two deadlines the new manager gave us and he said no, arguing that it won’t take much time to do the projects he asked us even though we said we were overworked. Needless to say, that meeting left a sour taste in a lot of people’s mouths. Flash forward to now, and he’s still here (although some coworkers talked to HR about him,…
When interviewing for a new job, what are the top things that the company offers that gives you a positive feeling? OR, what are the things that the company does that keep you content in your current position? Thanks a bunch. BTW, this is for my granddaughter's project and she's in 8th grade…
Got hit with this from one of my workaholic bosses who is mad I wasn’t available to work at 7pm last night, despite never making it clear we were expected to be online. When I interviewed they bragged about WLB but we are expected to be available all evenings and weekends and basically have to request permission if we are going to have plans outside of work. Already going to look for a new job and honestly I don’t really need the money right now, but it’s a good salary so I’m trying to stick it out. Would love to know how you guys reply to the bs “let us know if you’re having trouble prioritizing” when that’s…not the case.
I guess I’m getting a taste of how important good training is with this company. The woman making 5x as much as me can’t even show up on time. It’s not even a morning shit. It’s the middle of the day.
How to be annoying in open office
My work has made us return to the office full time after years of remote or hybrid work. The new building is awful and my cube barely fits my chair. It’s loud and people walking around constantly are distracting so no work is getting done. How can I be as annoying as possible?
