another fun anti work piece

Hi y’all, I work in a Japanese steakhouse in Virginia. I was talking to a friend of mine yesterday and while we were taking he asked about pay. I told him how I get 45% of the tips, 5% goes to the busser, and 50% goes to the chefs (cuz they cook in front of you here). My friend proceeds to tell me that’s illegal and he could call the labor board as they could owe us servers some real money. I’m here today to ask if there is a law in Virginia that says the server must receive 100% of the tips they are given, and if so could y’all link the law so I can spread it around my workplace like a wildfire? Thank y’all.
i’m a paralegal for an insurance defense firm, and you’d think i’d be busy… nope. i literally have nothing to do. some days i have zero emails, so i scroll through reddit, text, or watch tik toks until 5. it’s very soul sucking and i hate it. i commute 60 miles a day, 5 days a week because they won’t let us do any work from home anymore. so i’m sitting in my car for an hour (one way) to sit in my crappy desk chair for 9 hours. one of the attorneys called me into his office last week and told me he’s noticed i’m not doing anything. but it’s not like i want to sit around. i have ADHD and hate sitting still without something to focus on. i told him straight up that i’ve gone around the office and asked the other attorneys and legal assistants if…
Just a small PSA
Unless you’re contractually obligated there is 0 reason to give 2 weeks notice. I’ve worked a lot of jobs that have me work with younger people, and the amount of times I see them submit notice is wild. If it’s not something written out and agreed on, it’s just an assumption in place to benefit your boss. If they fuck up, just bounce. Anxious about saying you’re leaving? Just leave. The boss will care, but that doesn’t matter to anyone but them.
Am I losing it or is this insane?
Is this legal? It’s in North Carolina. He has to go on a mandatory work trip for 3 days, no expenses paid, forced to carpool and pay his own food, and share a room with a stranger in a hotel OR pay his own way! He is afraid if he refuses they will fire him. What legal options does he have? It is in a month.
