Category: Antiwork
I work in fast food and I am an assistant manager and I made a verbal agreement last June to stay for a year. I’ve been taken advantage of through scheduling, I’m working way more than I agreed to and am getting forced into work when someone doesn’t show up. Not to mention my boss didn’t even finish her first year of high school so she is not qualified for her job at all. I just don’t know if I can leave without legal repercussions if all I did was say I would stay for a year.
This was in April and I’m still mad. Trying my best to let this go coming up on a year but still makes me so angry. I was the director of a private preschool for a year after teaching 10+ years. Received tons of praise my first few months for handling some difficult situations. Workload kept increasing, Covid surged again and made work a nightmare and getting anything done impossible. Come February last year, I decided I need to quit or go crazy after finding a mess of bullshit my boss had documented on me (which I had access to and was not out of line looking at this). Told her I had been struggling with PTSD a long time and the workload was too much – which was also true. She was bent about me seeing the documentation and continued to argue everything she wrote was true. I said…

It’s a good cover letter—why redo it?
Hey all! I told a friend this and it seems to be on the fence. My cover letter is phenomenal. Not to brag, but it is. It’s an internal job posting for a department that’s just a step above what I’m already doing. I’m great at my job and have been there for years. The only issue is: I submitted the same cover letter (different dates, addressed to someone else, and what not) mid 2022. The only reason I didn’t move up last go around was hours did not mix with my family life. My friend is shocked that I’m not writing a whole new letter from scratch. Why should I? It’s internal and for the same general area. Swap around and switch out a few words and off it goes as far as I’m concerned. Why get more of my outside of work time when I’ve done it already.…
I'm going into 4 years working at the same company. It's freelance and work from home but I have a fixed schedules to clock in and clock out, fixed days off and paydays and it's just a regular job as any except I don't got any rights, days off or anything. Not American so American laws won't apply and company is not based on my country so my country laws won't either. It sucks but it pays well because of dollar conversion. But the no time off thing is making me lose my mind. I worked 4 Christmas (eve and day) and 4 new years eve/new years in a row. I can try asking for time off (unpaid, of course) but there's little chance of being approved since other workers also ask them. The highest amount of time I've taken off was 5 consecutive days for a trip in June…
I work in a toxic environment but I do have a nice manager and someone above her. But overall it’s super toxic due to abusive leadership. I got COVID at an office party a few months back: 3 days. Had an injury: 1 day. Job interview (lol): 1 day. Tomorrow I need to take a day because I’ve been bleeding after getting an IUD for 2 weeks and feel super weak, and I scored a last minute appointment with my doctor to get a required test for my prescriptions. I feel like they’re gonna think I’m lying and feel guilty. AND I likely have a third round job interview coming up in person during the next few weeks so I’ll have to take PTO. Help?

Interview at 2
I had an interview at 2pm today and I showed up 2 mins early, doesn’t really matter tho, front desk guy ask me the whole “how can I help you, blah blah blah” so he tells me to sit the hiring manager is with someone. I give it 5mins and he’s still not done with her, they’re in this desk area away from the entrance but I can hear them. Another guy walks in and sits on the other side of the guy interviewing. Front desk guy goes over to him and mentions my name, we all just look at each other, then there’s a lady who wants to sign for a membership. So he goes and gives her a tour of the place. I give it another 5 mins and this hiring manager still isn’t done and doesn’t look like he’s gonna be done for another 5-10 mins. So…
I Almost Walked Out Today
So I clock in at 7AM and the store owner sends the drive through person and the fry station person on break leaving just the owner and myself. Now I never run drive through; fry station (sometimes) and front counter. I don't mind running drive through if there's adaquet help, but when it's just you and you have to do six different things it can be overwhelming. Anyways being the early morning everyone is enroute to work and things become busy. To the point I can't even fill up someones Dr. Pepper before the next ding for someone wanting to place na order. It was just a constant busyness. Now the stora manager is talking to one of her leads and the other person taking a break and also the maintenance guy just trashing me. Saying how I'm slow, making mistakes, how she shouldn't be required to help me, that…
