I’m pretty new to the work force but I’ve been with this company nearly a year. I got 60 hours when I started with them in the spring and thought it was just because I started later in the year. But I just saw my reset PTO and it’s still 60… am I ungrateful for thinking that’s a bit crappy? Whenever I ask my parents they give the “back in my day” speech. I don’t know what to think.

I’ve been working in California in sales for a meat distributor for more then a year now, I’ve brought in new clients and have been doing pretty good to the point they gave me a very significant raise about a month ago. That was of course until my boss decided to hire her niece around the same time I got my raise. Whenever I make a slight mistake or don’t answer my phone fast enough they take it as an excuse to take my accounts away from me, example: “you didn’t answer your phone, client called the office, you’re not giving good customer service, so now my niece will take over the account.” There is one more sales person in our team and that has never been the case for him, he’s worked here for 8years now, I’ve gotten calls from he’s clients that they can’t get in touch and…
FMLA and unlimited PTO policy
So I have a question – I've thought about going on FMLA for reasons, but now my company has an unlimited PTO policy. I know I'm going to have to look into the specifics of what the policy is and how it works with FMLA, but does anyone have any experience or general advice to share? What should I look for? What might be a problem? etc
Throwaway bc trying to remain anonymous as possible. I live in an at-will state, work for a fortune500 global company. They generally tout good ethics if you work in the US but after 8 years, I am so livid and fed up with the fuck ups in payroll and ashamed I didn’t catch this shit sooner for the second time. About 4 years ago, I briefly left my company because they messed up my pay. I had signed on to a higher volume location, and signed on for more pay. After about a year and after the store manager got fired, I realized the increase never actually got put in. After reporting this, HR/payroll said they would only retro pay 3 months. I was only 3.5 years in at that time and had enough. My family member offered me an opportunity but it all fell through and I found myself…
Question for a friend in retail
I have a coworker who was supposed to transfer departments after new years (online Pickup to produce), but the coach (manager for the department) said they were “not trying at work” and felt they wouldn't do a good job, so she denied their request. Are managers allowed to deny transfers and additionally, can they force a transfer without your consent or acknowledgement?
I started using the FishBowl app a few months ago. It is made by the same people who created Glassdoor Reviews. I really like that it allows you to post anonymously by job title or company; however, I realized that you can be reported and banned by posting negative comments about a given company. Honestly, what is the point of the application if you can’t be honest about the company that you work for?
My Job Requires Travel and I Hate It
So for the past 3+ years I have been traveling as an engineer for work with about 30%-50% travel. Each travel session can be up to 3 months with weekend travel back home, sometimes. Consequently I haven't been home alot and I feel like my world at home passes me by when I travel. I decided I dont want to travel anymore and plan to tell my boss as soon as I get the chance (I work remotely and he forgets I exist, kinda nice ngl). How should I do this? I thought about just telling him I am on the “do not fly list” for “that one time” and leave it at that. My longterm plan is to start a business but I am nowhere near ready for that yet so I am treading between finding an interim job, asking if I can do something else within my company,…
FMLA hours?
I'm getting conflicting information. My union is saying everyone gets 480 hours (12 weeks at 40 hours per week) of fmla leave per year no matter what, There is no exception to the rule. Quite a few articles online are stating fmla hours are calculated by how many hours per week you are scheduled to work for 12 weeks. For example I am scheduled 56 hours per week to work. According to the websites I'd do 12 x 56 which would equal 672 allowed hours, vs 40 hours per week giving my 480 hours I called the department of labor and he is saying he only sees 480 hours maximum , but will double check with colleagues to be sure and call me back. Is there anyone who has experience or knowledge with this that has the correct answer? Had a rough year with baby being born and wife having…
Need help with dilemma
Long story short my M(35) gf (33) was just informed that her jobs owner doesn’t have any money to pay them this coming Friday and and that if they wanted to stay it would be to work for free. She has one week she has worked (which was last week) that they said they have no money to pay them for. And if they stayed this full week it would be for free. She is a w2 employee. If she quit today, can she file a wage claim for last week? 2. Even though they said if she stayed this week it would be for free, if she stayed this whole week, can she file a wage claim for it? Small business had their business partner pass away, and 2nd partner is just cutting everything and everyone off and closing untill things are figured out in a month or so.…
