Category: Antiwork
Like the title says, I work remote and make a fairly decent salary as a digital consultant. Have been with this company for 2 years and have made some great contributions and enjoy my team. (Who I ever never met in person) Lots of talk about on-site visits that would cause me to fly to Chicago and I have two issues: I hate forced camaraderie in the workplace. I am battling with a few mental health issues from the pandemic and all the isolation and my anxiety thinking about on-site workshops and a few work dinners after is absolutely through the roof. Anyway to get around this? Zero vibes of if you don't go you are terminated, again I love my team and they enjoy me when we zoom and stuff. Also, I have great work performance from my peers and clients I have handled.
I started a new healthcare job recently. For starters, the people “training” me didn't know what they're doing, didn't explain anything they were doing, did everything wrong, and the entire company is just super disorganized. I thought maybe things would be better in their “new” facility and it was just the one they had me training at that's bassackwards. Boss offered me double time to work new years weekend, told me both days are double. I've been relying heavily on my savings and need the extra money, so I agreed to the shifts. I don't really care about new years anyways. This was my first weekend in the new facility. Turns out it is FAR from new, it's old and worn out and wasn't designed to accommodate wheelchairs or walkers. Whatever, a job is a job, I'm sticking to it and I'm gonna do my best. Stomach flu is going…
practicing my pep
Practicing hard to say “I am well rested and it's good to be back!” when I see my manager tomorrow on zoom. Ugh. Congratulations egomaniac middle manager of mine, you've made an honest person into a smarmy liar.
Lazy Coworker = More Work for Me
So I just found out today that the boss assigned me a project because “my coworker won’t do it” and my supervisor is just going along with it. Any suggestions on how to question this without ruffling feathers?
Receptionist Rant
I'm guessing this is a rough day for a lot of people. I worked two random days last week but other than that had a nice collective 9 days off. I am a receptionist at a construction company and I started a few months ago. I've been holding out for a WFH or Hybrid admin job to no avail. I seem to not mind new jobs at first but once the honeymoon period wears off its bad. Anyways, my current boss is driving me absolutely bananas. See, I have very bad anxiety but I don't share that with employers. I also have OCD. These are things I no longer share as it has had negative affects in the past. But don't need to have either of those issues to feel what I'm feeling which is smothered. Since I am reception, my job can be dead one minute and busy the…
I'm so sick of my company denying my could of been promotions. I have been with my company 10+ yrs and I know every department and have done each department about 2 yrs and can do them exceptionally well. I'm long term reliable and I just got passed again for another could of been promotion. I have decided to step back down to 25 hrs a week and get another p.t. job and move on. This company I work for does not value my skills, knowledge and expertise. I use to be able to float around the store and now they have me stale mate in one position in the store. Refuse to move me around refuse to let me go back to floating due to lack of staff. I'm done with my company and am considering moving on.
I work for a company that sells health insurance for different carriers. Last year it was a slow year yet we got $15-$50 bonuses per sale. We also got a Christmas party where they also paid for our hotel room and gas. They sent us company branded items like shirts and bottles, a Christmas gift and gift cards. Then earlier this year there was a new CEO that signed on. I don't know why they switched CEOs though. This year we got record high sales across all departments and carriers. They even keep sending us emails on how we're getting new contracts and extending existing ones because of how well we did. Yet they reduced our bonuses to $3, cut our raises, the Christmas party, Christmas presents, and gift cards. We also went through hell with their systems constantly being down and having to find work arounds or turning people…
