I’m an assistant GM at a fast casual restaurant, and I was the only manager scheduled to work on both NYE and Day. Open-close both days. They’ve already been super inconsiderate with my schedule the whole time I’ve been there. Like giving me closes back-to-back with opens giving me 3-4 hours to sleep and working 18+ hours in a 24 hour span, giving me a completely different schedule every week, and leaving me shitshows to clean up with limited help. So this was kind of my breaking point. I had a job interview on the 30th for a better position elsewhere, and I gambled on the new job by no-showing for both shifts and not responding to any calls or texts. After the first no-show, I was notified that I got the new job! Went out with my boys for new years and had a hell of a time. Woke…

I got laid off last July after more than 5 yrs with a small family company. I kind of knew it was coming because our salaries had been late for a year, so I started looking for another work even before then and worked on a project that gave me income until it ended in October. But since I entered the workforce in 2011, I’ve been so traumatized by horrible bosses, 5-hour commutes, and job interviews (I get too nervous and it makes my spoken English and verbal comm worse than it already is), that I’ve come to a point last year where I’d rather just jump off a bridge than look for a job again. Everything is so expensive, even bare necessities, that I just don’t see the point of work anymore. But now, it’s a new year, money’s dried up, inflation is so out of control that central…
hello all. i have an issue ive been trying to resolve since march. ive reached out to manager when he was working here about a scheduling change, and many others including HR and HR. no one has responded about this issue. i was hired to have an hour break unpaid and 2 15min paid breaks. in march this was reduced to 2 15 min paid breaks and one half hour unpaid break. the issue is that i work starting at noon till 9pm at night and have since ive started in 6/21. so the root of my question is i work a nine hour shift, this time is reduced with the hour break in the beginning to 8 hours. not i feel that for the past nine months i have been working 8.5 hours and not getting paid for that amount of time which would be 2.5 hours of unpaid…
How the American economy actually works
For those that don't know, this is essentially how it works: Money is created out of thin air by the Federal Reserve (private central bank). That money is then loaned out to both private companies and the US government (treasury) for next to nothing. The largest corporations (large-scale banks & financial institutions) re-loan that money out to other companies, and to smaller banks, to collect an interest premium. The US government uses that money for funding whatever tf they're currently doing (normally war). Then, that money makes it's way to you in the form of “payment” for your time, energy, expertise, etc. in the form of either wages (for most people) or revenue (for small business owners/freelancers). Now someone has to pay for that money. It's not free, it's being LOANED to these entities who are then giving it to you as remuneration. Well the powers that be sure af…
