I feel like we’ve got some useful energy here on the anti work thread but we’re not harnessing any collective energy. If corporations such as Amazon treat their employees like complete dog shit, create staggering amounts of waste, and they don’t pay their fair share of taxes why should we order shit from them? It’s not like me not spending thirty bucks on something will bankrupt Jeff Bezos but a couple tens of thousands of people refusing to use Amazon would be immensely satisfying . Why? Because fuck them, that’s why

Why is the trait of being a competitive, self-interested, go-getter only celebrated in entrepreneurs and not workers? Are there hidden human social castes in the business world? It would make sense the upper caste would deny the system exists to the “worker drones.”

I was let go this week with no warning so they could replace my part time position with a full time position, without offering me the hours increase.

On Friday, 3 days before my 90th day at this job I was let go because of the above reason. I was told “They found someone they love for the position.” I am shell shocked as I have only missed work when I had RSV and COVID. I missed 8 total days of work between the two and otherwise did well and was competent and good at my job. My partner is due with twins soon and even that day my manager asked when they were due. I am so frustrated with system that we live in.
