I work a retail job in an area where most of the people are elderly/at high risk of getting COVID. Both my parents, who I currently reside with, have tested positive. I tried to be responsible and text my bosses the night before to explain the situation, and asked them if they wanted me to still come in. I said I’d wear a mask. They both said as long as I was negative, I should come in. Fast forward to today, I feel like utter crap, I’m wearing a mask and I brought my cough drops – only to find out that one of my coworkers spread a rumor that I was “planning” an exit from work, that I was essentially playing hookie. I was going to reply in a comment with this but I thought it deserved it's own little place in history. I worked as a consultant at Deloitte a couple of years ago and was onsite with a customer. I got some kind of stomach thing and had to leave the site early. On the way back to the hotel I literally shit myself in the rental car. It was friggin horrible. Walking up to the lobby and taking the elevator to my room with a big load in my pants. Worst day of my life. Manager called me bitching about why I left early and said I was getting disciplined because she didn't believe I was sick. Still no heat but toilet works. Slipped on the ice this morning while doing my daily duties and went down on my knee, hard. I tried twice to get up using that leg before I realized it was actually hurt. So embarrassing. Finally got up, finished my work, went into the office. Somebody came in and made a comment about moving slowly while apologizing, and I said “no worries, I literally just fell on the ice and fricked up my leg.”. At work I do my job and other people's. I like to stay busy. I've been considering leaving my company because of a lot of the same issues as everyone else. Disorganized, managers not understanding how processes work, lack of respect, etc. Today a manager sent me a rude message about following protocol when I was following protocol. I've brought up in several meetings how the protocol is ineffective and causes issues. Every time I've been told follow the fucking protocol. But now I'm being told to have my team circumvent protocol and told I'm wrong to have them follow it. Not in a respectful manner either. I had such a great working relationship and outside of work friendship with this person. Then she got promoted to a supervisor position and literally her entire personality shifted. She used to be very anti-corporation, anti-micro-management and pro-employee rights. It took less than a month for her to sell out. It just depresses me that people are like this.

I just can't anymore with these people.
