Hard work doesn’t matter
I got offered my dream job but they rescinded the offer because an old coworker gave a bad reference, now I’m blacklisted from my dream company and can’t pursue the career I worked so hard for. My coworker acted super sweet, pretended she would say nice things, and then ruined my dream job. I can’t get over it. I worked so hard for it and it was literally sabotaged. Hard work does not lead to success. Ever. I put so much effort into everything, so many times, but the world just runs on luck. I don’t have luck. The one time I was about to get what I wanted it was literally taken away from me. Trying is so pointless.

By taking advantage of lax inventory controls and stealing company property. Blacks inventory controls you've mentioned to them several dozen times and they still won't do anything about.
This happened about six years ago. I'd taken redundancy from a previous job and decided to spend a while temping till I figured out what I wanted to do. So, I took a temp job working for the local authority. In my country, you have a legal amount of annual leave to take each year. As it was a temp job, I was accumulating my leave hourly, but it still had to be taken by the end of the agency's financial year. This was fine by me; I was working part time hours and taking some courses, using the redundancy pay to supplement my wages. It was chill, I had time to go to the gym, and I enjoyed the work; I even applied for a permanent post but it went to an existing employee. A few months in, a colleague in another site badly broke her leg and I…
20M here. I work for a recruitment agency as a casual worker. Factories hire the agency so they can assign them, workers. Today, I was working as a cleaner in the factory. At around 8:10, the team leader told me to get rid of the factory rubbish at 8:45 and told me to check the mouse traps by then. Checking the mouse traps would usually take me 20 minutes but given the temperament of the team leader, I was afraid he was gonna shout at me if I go do the rubbish before 8;45 so I did the job slowly so I finish by 8:45. Around 8:30 he asked me if i finished and can go do the rubbish now, I said yes but I would have to go get the jacket to keep me warm since i had the flu and had to go outside for the job. He…
I became a supervisor.
Recently, I obtained a promotion in a decent organization that pays well (all employees are paid decent) and offers good benefits. My previous, nonsupervisory job was ok and I was one of the top performers in quality and production. Sometimes it was stressful, but overall not a bad gig. Now I have become a supervisor. While the pay increase was substantial, I don't see myself staying in this role. I actually ended up with a pretty good team. There are a couple employees who are hovering just below the production standard that employees are expected to meet. I already know that I'm not going to be the supervisor that upper management wants. To me, if these employees are coming to work and getting somewhat close to the production mark, that's good enough for me. To get rid of fully trained employees who are slightly “underperforming” would be a collosal waste…
