They really thought we’d forget.
Hello! I recently attended the yearly Christmas retreat at an all-inclusive resort with my company which is a Tech startup which I have been working at for 3 months now after graduating college this year. There is a group of 70 people who came, and as my family doesn't celebrate Christmas, I decided to go just to be a part of the culture and to have a free week at the resort. When we arrived on Saturday, the first day of activities was on Sunday. It consisted of getting familiar with the resort and meeting and mingling with everyone. I felt a bit alone as there weren't any other girls my age there, but there were a couple of older women who I knew a little bit. The first day went well, although I was quite tired from the plane ride the day before. On Sunday, we had a meet…
This could be the wrong place to post this but I need some advice. I started a job in finance and accounting about a year ago. The company has two owners with a 75/25 split. 75 manages the back office duties while 25 handles most if not all of the daily operations. For the last 7 months I have been in the middle of a war between the both of them. 25 wants full control, so he has met with lawyers and accountants to put a proposal together to create a deal to buy/sell one another the various interests they are partners in. 75 has balked at the offer and 25 plans to start fresh on his own. No sale. No buyout. Just quits company A and either starts B or uses previously owned C or D. I work for company A and he has asked me to leave with…
Last minute Holiday update
Email received the Monday leading up to Christmas. If you don’t have any PTO left for the remainder of the year, I guess you’re screwed!
Maybe the Highschoolers are the answer…
They should walk out of school protesting that there's no reason to continue to go to school if they won't be able to make ends meet no matter what they do. It could spread like wildfire. Teachers – tell them the truth in the classroom (albeit in more appropriate terms): “Oh, you're all fucked” then proceed explain why. Hell, give them yourself as a example.
I started off blue collar, but then got the college degree and put on those button ups and ties. Now, I am full on “white collar” as you can get. Only I have a 'blue collar' mind. I thought this forum would be 99% white collar stuff. As I read tho, I think 99% are teens at their pizza hut jobs hating on Bully Mike, the 21 year old telling them to stuff the crust better. Is that what this really is?? Because, “Hating your pizza hut jobs” IS ALMOST A GUARANTEE and doesn't need coping mechanisms. ONLY life long, dreadful, DEEP and SERIOUS white collared shit warrants a need to have such a need for organized opposition. Sorry if this sounds.. bad. But, it's true. If you have antiwork for part time, oh lord. That's like saying you are “Anti going to high school”. Well duh, sherlock.…
I put in my resignation, and I’m relieved. I started a job 10 months ago that I truly enjoyed. I work on a two-person team, and I really felt like this was the job I was going to be at until I retired. A month into my employment, as soon as my official training was over, my co-worker decided to go fully remote for six months, stating she couldn’t sit in a chair for the eight hour shift. That meant all of the things that needed to be done in-office were now my responsibility. This should have been my first red flag. Even though she was now remote, she was missing a lot of work. There was always something happening in her life where she needed to be off work. I was new, but caught on quickly, doing the work so we wouldn’t get behind. I should have spoken to…
Let them try what we have been doing…
Can we take all these FvCKs that think it's so easy out there and strip them of all wealth and assets and have them start as if they were just getting out of high school, and see if they can make it even a third as long as we have?
Hello everyone, I've just been fired from my job where I worked as a front-of-house staff at a pub in the UK. The manager simply said it's not the right environment for me and fired me on the spot, cancelling my future shifts. I'm not distraught as it isn't exactly the dream job, but I'm wondering where I stand. I have worked there for 20 days only, and never signed a contract (I assumed I would at some point). They had asked for my bank details and made sure I had a right to work in the UK, so I assume there was a contract in process that never got to me. So, my question is: where do I stand? Can they fire me on the spot, without any prior warning or heads up? Is it an issue that I never signed a contract? Is this even worth me thinking…
