Anyone else think they are specifically seeking teens so they can pay them less?
I am interviewing for a director gig with a major college and have been through six rounds so far, Including submitting a written exercise and sample of my work. This morning I was scheduled for an 8am Zoom meeting with the hope this would be my final meeting. At 7am, the HR contact begins emailing me, not calling or texting, asking me “where I am?” I don’t have a 7am meeting invite from them. Not a Zoom invite. I call this person, after several a rings they pick up, and they inform me the meeting will have to be put off until next year now. I am having to relocate across country for this gig. Delaying their decision two weeks is a major upset to all our plans. And this person then spent the rest of the call asking me why her email for this meeting didn’t arrive. She proceeds…
AirBnB Cleaning Fee
Just stayed at an AirBnB and the cleaning fee was $300. Ok, sure I’m fine with that, cleaning is a tough job. However, I then noticed there was an envelope left requesting an optional tip for the cleaning service. My question is, “How much of my $300 cleaning fee actually went towards the cleaners?” AirBnB has gone so down hill in recent years.

My companies amazing announcement
My company so graciously sent out a notification to all employees. Stating it would rather give away money to charities than give gifts to employees. Like how on earth was this a good idea. It makes me want to do anything but work. Dont take it the wrong way i support charitable giving. But why tell us the company would rather do that than be nice to its own employees. We genrated all that money youre just giving away. I'm sure the people high up who made that decision will still get bonuses. Either way it was very nice of them to tell us that they care so little that they would rather give money away to other people.
I worked at my previous employer for 12 years and I liked it, but after COVID – when they made us all go back into the office – I switched to working at pretty much the same job at a different place with a great WFH policy. Before I left my previous employer I wrote down everything about my job in a document and encouraged everyone to read it and ask questions. I made a browser bookmark file with annotations and an excel spreadsheet with network locations of everything and what each thing did. This was all put on the shared network drive under my name. No one ever asked questions and afaik no one ever looked at any of the documentation and I am presuming based on what just happened that they forgot about it. I got a call from former employer (several higher ups on conference) last Tuesday…
