So I work at a hospital and recently had to call off, it wasn’t a good reason but nevertheless I called off “sick” to get an unexcused day off. I knew the consequences and was willing to take them but what I didn’t expect was for my supervisor asking to bring in a doctors note. Never have I heard him ask anyone else for a doctors note for calling in “sick” and never have I said or did anything to give him the idea that I was going to get checked out. Most doctors also go by appointments unless it’s the er but being sick usually isn’t a reason to go. Can my supervisor demand this?

40 hours PTO
Was just offered a full time position in healthcare and the company told me I got 40 hours PTO for the year. This included sick time. When I confirmed with them they said “yeah no one even uses their PTO.” Wtf?
Question about vacation time
In California the law says If you quit or resigned and provided at least 72 hours of notice, you are entitled to an immediate payment of vacation days. I am leaving my job, gave them 2 weeks notice. I have over 56 hours of vacation time. Does this mean that on my last day they should have a check ready for me? Or will they just pay me out with my final check?
How do I go about reporting a demeaning and abusive boss in Australia who creates a hostile work environment for there employees?
“It's basically the stress and anxiety of returning to work after you've taken PTO,” said Vicki Salemi, a career expert with Monster. Monster found that 87% of workers have experienced PTO woes, and 72% not requesting time off due to the fear of this. And when they are on PTO, 76% spend part of their time thinking about quitting when they return.
What should I do? Am I protected at all?
I’m a mechanic and I’ve been at my current job for almost 4 months now. Our schedule is set from 6:30-4:00 with call outs every now and then if something goes wrong in the off hours. Our manager came out today and said “(me), you’re going to be working Thursday Friday and Saturday nights from 6:30pm-6:30am the next day” I am the only one here with a child under the age of 18, my daughter is 4, and now I can’t spend Christmas Eve night with her at all nor can I help my wife with any of the Christmas duties we’ve always done. I’ve even talked to coworkers who were perfectly fine with taking my shift so I could spend it with my family and our manager said absolutely not. I work in a “right to work” state as well so I feel no matter how I go about…
Had to come into work sick
Sitting in my car as I’m writing this, tried to call in and my manager told me to find someone to cover my shift. Told them I threw up the other day and they still say they need me in. Feeling bothered by this, you would think it would be the job of management to look for a replacement, but I guess not.
So context, I've worked in minimum wage jobs for about a decade, the majority of it in the food industry. I was a waitress, a bartender, a line cook, and a shift supervisor. Not anymore though, I went to trade school and later college. I honestly loved working in the food industry. I like to cook at home, I'm very efficient, fast, and personable (when I'm in a good mood at least, lol), and some of the best people I've ever met worked in that industry, I've actually met my husband through working together at a restaurant. But the pay was always abysmal, the benefits non-existent, conditions of a war zone, and we were essentially expected to be on call 24/7. I moved on from the industry a long time ago, but what I gained most from it is a knack to sniff out bad management. I recently graduated a…
