Im a german with abitur and currently in a social year. Im now starting to send the first applications(that the right word?) Since wintersemester applicationtime is starting for some unis/colleges(they are hochschule right?) On avere the pay per semester is around 400€ usually less. Unless ive missed something in terms of trap costs, this is laughable compared to what i see on this thread. Even if book costs add up, and even if i wasnt incredeably lucky enough to have my parents finance me, i wouldnt end up in much of dept… There is child support money – 210€ if i remember correctly as well as Bafög, which depends on parents earnings(if not estranged i think, ive yet to look it up properly thats why i have no number on it yet) but considering my admittably higher middle class parents it might not be much. But still. So combined with…

I have a name for them – Asshole
I (24f) live in a Southeast Asia country. People in my country believe that people in their quarter of life should have a well-paid job or even marry someone. But for me, in my 24, I don't think I am I do my best in my career. I wonder how it is in Western countries. When do you reach your considerably best position in your job?
I do almost nothing for the entire shift. My customers are few and far between, mostly elderly folks who need me to explain how their phone works. Seeing as I don't have a lot to do and that standing for that amount of time is painful, I sat. I first got told off for bringing one of the bulky chairs we have for customers on the other side of the desk, but “I was getting in the way of other workers.” So I bought my own small folding stool. It was found in the back room and my boss was alerted. I received a call on my day off stating that I needed a doctor's note and that I didn't need to buy my own stool; it would be provided if my accommodation is approved. I currently can't afford a doctor's visit, and I'm moving out of state soon, so…
For about 8 months I have been dealing with this narcissist, having my time off requests denied repeatedly, other people on staff quitting and not being replaced, and my work hours increased without any bump in pay, I went to my boss' office last week Friday and handed him my resignation letter and told I'm leaving the company. I'm even giving one week notice, which I thought was generous. (my friends told me I should've just told him and left for good, especially after how I was treated. When I gave him the letter he just looked at it for 20 seconds and said “I can't have you leave” I told him sorry but I already accepted another job. It was towards the end of day Friday so he said we'll discuss this today (Monday). Well this morning comes around and he calls me into his office and puts on…
Tell me if this sounds weird to you
So I work at a factory of sorts in shipping (nobody can go in without a keycard), and it gets hot in there, so i decide to wear my hoodie on my waist, exposing my “non-brand” shirt. Management requires that we wear their brand monday-thursday, fridays it's fair game, wear whatever you want kinda thing. I don't abide by this rule, and the only way i got off scot-free so far was to wear a hoodie (also non-brand, but they don't pay much attention to that). Before my shift ended, I was approached by one of the supervisors who asked me if I had a brand shirt to wear. I told her I had some at home, and she asked why I don't wear them. I responded with “Well we work in a factory where nobody else is allowed in, so I don't see the point.” She kinda cut me…
My current job is 80% remote, and they're great about it. On my first day I had to be in the office for orientation. I asked if they'd need me to be in the office any other days since I was still training. They said no, and sent me home with a laptop and other electronic equipment worth thousands of dollars. On my first day working remotely I emailed my manager when I signed in, took lunch, and signed out for the day. She said not to worry about letting her know when I start and end for the day, just get the work done. Aside from a meeting or 2 a day I've rarely spoken to her in my time here. And being left on my own and trusted means I get more done and have incentive to want to do well knowing I'm trusted. The reason why this…
Given a raise, but not reflecting in pay
Does anyone here know of or able to direct me towards resources regarding pay raise timelines or protections? I've been given my yearly review (yes, over a month after the 4th quarter) and I have received a slight raise. Normally, when you receive a raise going from the 4th quarter, it would take effect in quarter 1. However, even 3 weeks after the raise was told to me, it has yet to be reflected in the pay. I'm also not hearing anything in regard to back pay for the difference starting at Q1. How can I bring this forward to my employer? Are there any protections in place about guaranteed implementation of a raise or back pay for time worked under the new rate?
