CEO said “if your child is in the hospital, you still better answer your phone”

I am 2 months into working for this startup company, and I knew they didn’t value work/life balance from talking to their employees. However, I didn’t understand the gravity of it. The executives work through the nights, call at all times of day, and expect the same from their employees. My supervisor, when I said “I care about work/life balance” he said “you’re too young for that, you are young to work hard”. The CEO at a Christmas party last year said “if your child is in the hospital, you still better answer your phone”, AT THE CHRISTMAS PARTY. I wonder how long I’ll last before burning out, the salary is very good. I’m going to try and stick it out and save up, then take my money and RUN.
