This is more just a huh post than anything else. My official title is data entry coordinator. My boss thought my title had changed to specialist when I got my last raise but when we checked it hadn’t. One day the manager referred to me as the Information Coordinator and I said I like that title better because it actually encompasses what I do much more accurately. Then I noticed that an employee at another location has that title and does the exact same job as me, only difference is she’s been there 11 yrs to my 1.5 yrs (I make more than her though already) but am not given the same title. Well I decided that should be my proper title and will request it formally be changed but I changed it on my resume and linked in. Just the title. Nothing else. And suddenly I have recruiters and businesses reaching out to me left and right. I just thought it was crazy because I didn’t change my job description at all. I know my boss will back me up on the formal title change but I think it’s crap that something that seems so little makes such a big difference in how companies view your resume.
