To preface this, I'm a server who make cash at the end of each shift
I was finding myself in a bit of a housing situation with my dog. My parents kicked me out after an argument so I was staying in a cheap hotel until I saved up for an apartment. I was walking my dog and some teenagers robbed me at gunpoint and took my phone, cards, and the cash in my wallet. When I immediately let my GM know, she raced to pick me up and bring me and my pup to her house. Since all my money was gone for the time being, I had asked co workers to help me out with stays and my dog. They happily agreed since we've all been working there for 2+ years. I worked at a fancy modern Italian restaurant and we'd make great money. I knew it wouldn't be long before my circumstance would be fixed.
I happened on a Friday morning and we all worked that night. Made $200 and one of our bartenders allowed me to stay at her place while she was out of town. My dog went with a member of the kitchen staff.
The next night was Saturday and everything was normal, I decided to be cut so the newer people could make some money. I stayed until Sunday at my fellow bartenders house and had my co workers drive me to grab my dog and check into a motel. I was not in the best spot but I had a months worth of shifts coming up, I knew I'd be okay soon. I wake up on Monday morning in the hotel and start going about my day. I get a message from my GM saying “due to the unnecessary issues you caused everyone, you're suspended until next week.” I had called and texted her but I never got any response. It really hurt me deeply.
I decided to calm down and try to make it through the week. The next day I was completely locked out of my scheduling app and I got absolutely no word from ANY co-worker about the reasoning.
It was so odd that they all, including the GM, helped me that weekend with nothing but smiles and love but then this happens. Basically coming on here to vent and see if anything similar has happened to anyone else. I'm homeless now with a job starting tomorrow so I'll be okay soon, but man, that was a whirlwind and it's made me never want to ask for help again.
