Company changes how I’m paid even though I signed paperwork

I recently started with a company to choose locations for their franchise. Part of the paperwork I signed said I’d be paid an advance of my pay to cover travel expenses. I went through a month of training and everything went well, getting to go to both Maine and DC for work, but now that training is over I got a call from my hiring manager that the company is no longer doing advances and that I’ll have to cover my travel expenses up front moving forward. I have a signed hiring paperwork depicting how I was to be paid, can they really just change that without a word of warning? What rights do I have? I have no idea what to do since I was so excited for this job
